🎉Congratulations to Brendan Czarnecki, MS, LAT, ATC, SA🎉 Brendan joined our AT Residency Program last year and we are excited to announce that he will be joining MASI Orthopaedics in California! Brendan earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and his Master of Science in Athletic Training from Merrimack College. During his time at Merrimack, he completed three clinical rotations, with the most impactful being with the University of Massachusetts Lowell men's lacrosse team. Following graduation, Brendan took on a full-time position as an athletic trainer at the University of New Hampshire, where he provided exceptional care for the women's volleyball, women's soccer, and women's basketball teams. In addition, he served as the External Clinical Site Coordinator for Athletic Training Students, developing relationships and standards with other universities. Brendan also excelled as a preceptor for ATS from various schools. We are grateful for Brendan’s contributions to our team and wish him the best in his future endeavors with MASI Orthopaedics. #clinicalcoordinator #preceptor

🎉 AT Resident Haley Berry will be joining ATC Team Haytmanek🎉 Haley joined our Athletic Training Residency Program last year, and she has decided to join us permanently as an ATC for Dr. Haytmanek’s team! Haley has an extensive background in athletic training, graduating from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and a minor in psychology. During her time at ASU, she gained invaluable clinical experience with the Mountaineers' men's soccer, women's basketball, track and field, cross country, field hockey, football, wrestling, and cheerleading teams. Continuing her education at the University of North Texas, Haley earned her Master of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in sport and exercise psychology. She excelled as a teaching assistant for undergraduate athletic training courses and served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the North Texas Mean Green's dive, swim, and football teams. After graduating from UNT, Haley brought her expertise to Wise Health System's Sports Medicine group, Fit-N-Wise. She worked in their clinic providing outreach coverage and sport psychology services to local athletes and club sports teams. Since joining The Steadman Clinic, Haley has contributed greatly to our team, always bringing her passion and dedication to her work. We are honored that she decided to stay on with our team! 🎉Congratulations to Ryan Froom🎉 After completing a year in our AT Residency Program, Ryan Froom will be heading to medical school at the University of North Dakota! Ryan's passion for health and sports led him to earn a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and Promotion & a Master’s in Athletic Training from South Dakota State University. He also holds a Graduate Certificate in Medical Physiology from the University of Florida. As a player for the SDSU baseball team, Ryan balanced academics and athletics. He gained valuable clinical experience with SDSU’s football and softball teams, Allina Orthopedics, Orthopedic Institute, and multiple high schools. His love for baseball even saw him sign a professional contract with the Sioux Falls Canaries in 2019, though an injury cut this journey short. Ryan's career as an athletic trainer has been diverse. He’s worked with collegiate athletes at Minnesota State University, Mankato, professional and Olympic baseball players with the Sioux Falls Canaries, and provided outreach coverage in South Dakota and Alabama through Sanford Sports Medicine and ATI Physical Therapy. He also interned at Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center, contributing to several research projects. Congratulations, Ryan! 🌟Physician Spotlight: Michael Gallizzi, MD, MS, FAAOS🌟   We are thrilled to feature Dr. Michael Gallizzi, a trailblazer in robotic and endoscopic spine surgery!    Dr. Gallizzi’s impressive academic background includes a BS in Economics with a minor in Classical Archeology from the University of Michigan, and both a MS in Healthcare Management and an MD with Distinction in Research from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.   During his residency at the University of Missouri-Columbia, Dr. Gallizzi earned the Steve Olson MD resident research award. He then completed a fellowship at Duke University, where he led a biomechanics lab looking at non-spinal fusion technology. He also served as a clinical instructor in orthopaedic adult spinal surgery.   As one of only 30 Globus Medical ExcelsiusGPS spinal robot instructors worldwide, Dr. Gallizzi is at the forefront of advanced spinal surgery. He also received the prestigious Kate and Michael Bárány award for research, scholarship, and academic excellence.  Dr. Alden completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital (Johns Hopkins Medicine), where he served as Chief Resident, and further honed his skills with a fellowship in hip and knee reconstruction at the Mayo Clinic, learning from world-renowned surgeons. A former NCAA champion swimmer and Ironman triathlete, Dr. Alden understands the importance of an active lifestyle and is dedicated to helping his patients achieve their health and fitness goals. 🎉 Exciting News from SPRI 🎉 This past June, we wrapped up our incredible EPOC Summer Scholars Program! This immersive, week-long STEM course brought together 48 bright students from across Colorado, including Dillon and Basalt. These talented students, ranging from high school juniors and seniors to first or second-year college students, had the opportunity to dive into the world of scientific and clinical research at our state-of-the-art Vail campus.  Throughout the week, students engaged in hands-on activities, conducted their own research, and explored various medical careers alongside our dedicated engineers, scientists, researchers, and clinicians. The week-long program ended with student presentations, a celebratory lunch, and a fun-filled trivia contest. A huge thank you to Patricia McNamara and our amazing staff at SPRI and The Steadman Clinic for making this week a resounding success! 🌟 Meet Joel M. Matta, MD 🌟 With over 35 years of experience, Dr. Joel Matta is a top expert in hip and pelvic reconstruction. Recognized internationally for his expertise, he holds the largest single surgeon database on the operative treatment and results of acetabular fractures. Dr. Matta has authored over 30 publications on techniques and methods used to improve and simplify hip replacement, periacetabular osteotomy, and the treatment of acetabular and pelvic fractures.  Dr. Matta’s unique knowledge has led him to design various orthopedic implants and instruments, including operating tables and hip replacement prostheses. He has founded several organizations, including the Hip and Pelvis Institute at St. John’s Health Center, the Anterior Hip Foundation, and the Anterior Total Hip Arthroplasty Collaborative. In addition to his role at The Steadman Clinic, Dr. Matta serves as Board member and past President of the Anterior Hip Foundation (AHF). Dr. Matta founded an orthopedic surgical fellowship in hip and pelvis reconstruction in 1990 that continues to this day. The current hip fellowship at The Steadman Clinic is under the direction of Dr. Matta and Dr. Marc Philippon. Past fellows of Dr. Matta have distinguished themselves as internationally recognized experts in hip and pelvis surgery, chairs of university departments in the USA and Europe, and as the current President of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr Matta is the surgeon most often credited with the transition of hip replacement in the US to anterior approach.
