Let's create the future we want!

About us

The Solutions Project funds and amplifies grassroots climate justice solutions across the US and Puerto Rico, especially those created by Black, Indigenous, Immigrant, women, and other people of color-led organizations. We operate as a national intermediary dedicated to improving the material conditions of the people directly impacted by the climate crisis, who we believe play a central role in finding and scaling solutions. We make grants to over 140 organizations closest to the problems created by pollution and climate change, amplifying the ideas and energy of those on the frontlines. We use culture, policy, and media as a strategy to bring focus and attention to what is working and what is not. The current moment appeals to philanthropy to be more attuned and holistic in its approach. To recognize interconnectedness, and to be in deeper service of communities. This is the type of philanthropy we embody. We envision a world where everyone has affordable housing, meaningful work, and a healthy place to live. A world created for the people, by the people. 100% for 100%. We make grants to the dozens of organizations closest to the problems of and solutions to pollution and climate change. We also help our partners tell their stories in the media so people everywhere can see what's working in the most unlikely of places. Finally, we get the best climate solutions in front of decision makers in government, business, and philanthropy so they put their money behind what works. Let's create the future we want!

Communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis have been already creating solutions that are effective, long-lasting and equitable. That is why we are thrilled to announce the launch of our Climate Justice Solutions Storybank. It serves as a resource, highlighting how individuals and groups are mobilizing, driving change, and achieving transformative outcomes. It also showcases inspiring examples of how communities are actively creating the world we want to build – a world where climate justice is achieved through community-led solutions. We know that people have the power to create change, and we hope that each of these stories sparks the imagination and collaboration needed to bring climate justice solutions to life everywhere. As Hurricane Milton approaches, following the devastation of Hurricane Helene, Florida is preparing for what could be the largest evacuation in seven years. The relentless storms battering our communities are a stark reminder of the escalating climate crisis fueled by fossil fuel companies. For over 70 years, they’ve known the truth: our planet is warming due to fossil fuel pollution from the burning of coal, oil, and gas. Warmer oceans cause more intense storms like Helene and Milton. With the election fast approaching, let this serve as a reminder that we are in desperate need of bold, climate centered leadership that prioritizes people over profit. #HurricaneMilton #HurricaneHelene

Our grantee partner, Go Austin/Vamos Austin! (GAVA) has worked tirelessly for years organizing and mobilizing community power to reduce barriers to health while increasing institutional capacity to respond to the people most impacted by historic inequities.. Through various programs and campaigns, GAVA seeks to reduce the negative impacts of systemic health inequities in the following three ways: ✅ Increase access to physical activity and improved nutrition ✅ Build community power ✅ Foster permanency As it relates to climate justice, GAVA has continued to support residents in identifying, initiating, and leading efforts to reduce the negative impacts of flood risks, extreme heat, grass fire risks, and other climate shocks and stressors that strain community health and the ability of residents to stay in their neighborhoods. We are proud to shine a spotlight on GAVA this #LatinxHeritageMonth!

The words of Gloria Walton speak truth to power and we are so grateful to the McNulty Foundation for amplifying them!

“We all know that the climate crisis affects all of us, but it does not affect us all in the same way.” - Gloria Walton, #McNultyPrize Winner and CEO of The Solutions Project. At the Resnick #AspenAction Forum, Gloria highlighted a crucial truth: the solutions to the climate crisis are right in front of us. The key to lasting change lies in community-led, people-first approaches that prioritize equity and justice.. As Climate Group’s #ClimateWeekNYC begins, these approaches will be central to the discussions. The Solutions Project will be at the forefront, advocating for climate solutions that empower the communities most impacted. Learn more and support this organization today: https://lnkd.in/dNHqwkJ

Our next grantee spotlight for #LatinxHeritageMonth is dedicated to the hardworking staff and members of Comite Civico del Valle (CCV)! CCV was founded on the principle, “informed people build healthy communities" and continues to incorporate that mission statement in all partnerships, research studies, and civic engagements comprised by their organization. With the Imperial County having the lowest rate of EV chargers per capita of all 58 counties in California, recently, they successfully launched an initiative for much-needed Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, locating their first charger in the City of Brawley, CA. Their current goal is to install 40 publicly accessible charging stations in order to produce more local green jobs, boost tourism, create STEM education opportunities, and reduce harmful air pollution so that they can achieve EV Equity and Environmental Justice for disadvantaged communities of the Salton Sea California Border Region. We applaud CCV's commitment to advancing ambitious climate goals while also making sure marginalized communities always have a seat at the decision-making table when it comes to creating climate solutions that will impact the health of current residents, as well as future generations.
