As we gear up for #COP16, the importance of protecting biodiversity and tackling climate change has never been clearer. In our latest video, discover MOMBAK, a Brazilian startup at the forefront of reforestation in the Amazon. Through their Amazon Reforestation Fund, they support the largest biodiverse reforestation initiative in the region, aiming to remove carbon, improve soil quality, and enhance local ecosystems. We’re working to close the climate financing gap by investing in Mombak’s innovative model of creating sustainable economic alternatives for local communities. 🌍 Learn more about the potential of reforestation here 👇

Ahead of the World Bank meetings next week, The Rockefeller Foundation President Rajiv J. This week we participated in American Heart Association’s Health Care by Food Systems Convening to continue our support to develop an extensive roadmap for successfully bringing Food is Medicine programs to more Americans. While our current system is good for purchasing health services, it falls short in promoting health. We believe that produce prescriptions, medically tailored meals, and other #FoodIsMedicine interventions can help people build long-term healthy practices and improving health outcomes — especially for underserved Americans — while reducing health care spending. Energy is at the heart of the climate crisis—and accelerating a clean just energy transition is key to the solution. 💡 In Haiti, The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP), The World Bank, and the Inter-American Development Bank are working with Alina Eneji and Okra Solar to scale 5,000 mesh grids across rural areas in the country. Mesh grids present a faster, more cost-effective way to provide electricity. Learn how changing energy is changing lives in Haiti: https://lnkd.in/ei_j9VpW #LetsChangeEnergy

🌱 On this #WorldFoodDay, we reflect on the impact and progress we’ve seen around the world – spurred by our partners who are transforming food systems and feeding the most vulnerable people: children. One of the most inspiring? Cup Of Uji, a Kenyan organization on a mission to improve the lives of young learners with nutritious school meals, many sourced from climate-resilient crops like sorghum. This includes students at Athi River Primary School, south of Nairobi where the effects of #climatechange make it even harder for families to serve a meal every day. Today at the #WHS24 our SVP for Health, Naveen Rao spoke at the Redefining Global Health in the Era of Climate Shocks panel, emphasizing the vital role of community-driven solutions and partnerships advancing climate action for health. 🌍 We are on the brink of another transformation in the field of global health — one that will redefine what it means to live, thrive, and to build a future where health and climate justice are inseparable. Transforming global public health for climate shocks will require all of us to work in new ways, including ways that our field has found challenging in the past. We see collaboration at the heart of this effort. Together, we can achieve universal health coverage, vibrant, climate-adaptive cities, global financing for vulnerable populations, and clean energy solutions✨

We’re thrilled that last week the USDA announced an investment of $1.7 billion for purchase of locally and regionally produced foods and domestically produced foods for emergency food assistance. This includes $500M in additional funding for the Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program (LFPA), which has been supported by our grantee Wallace Center. Read about the impact this funding has had on eight states that have used LFPA money to support local food producers in their communities. https://lnkd.in/gf4CNJet #localfoodsystems #regionalfoodsystems #foodsystemschange

Happy one year anniversary of our President Rajiv J. Shah launching "Big Bets: How Large-Scale Change Really Happens"! The Big Bets community grew tremendously in only a year, and we're excited to see this movement grow even more.
One year ago today, my first book launched. Big Bets: How to Make Large-Scale Change Really Happen was published on October 10, 2023, at a moment when many wonder if it’s possible to solve our toughest challenge. The response to the book made clear that it is. On campuses, at companies, in bookstores, here, and elsewhere online. I met thousands of people like you who believe it’s realistic to be optimistic about our chance to make large-scale change. This movement is growing and gaining momentum with 4,000 of you from 150 countries have joined the Big Bets Community. We also launched a Big Bets Climate Fellowship, aimed at supporting leaders working to reverse the climate crisis and accelerate opportunities for the most vulnerable. Our first cohort was from Latin America and the Caribbean. Next year, we will support two Fellowships, one in the Asia Pacific and one in the United States. I hope you will consider joining our community and applying to this transformational fellowship.
