Fast fashion is amplifying the climate impacts of the fashion industry. Since 2011, The RealReal has been a solution to fast fashion and a major part of the solution to slow global warming. Committing to buying fewer, better-quality items and consigning them fosters a more sustainable future for both the planet and the industry. That's why we are excited to support the launch of the Congressional Slow Fashion Caucus. Their climate-smart policy priorities—repair, reuse, and recycle—align perfectly with our mission and have proven to reduce fashion’s environmental footprint. At The RealReal, authenticity is at our core. We believe in a culture where everyone can thrive as their true selves, both at work and beyond. This Pride Month was truly unforgettable, thanks to our incredible Pride Employee Resource Group and teams across our organization who made it happen. From vibrant rainbow "breakroom takeovers'' to engaging activities like drag queen bingo, we came together to celebrate diversity and inclusion. We ended the month by hosting a meaningful dialogue with Caitlin Howe, SVP, Finance led by Pride co-chair, Joe-Benjamin Mauricio. This conversation reflected on the power of pride, the importance of LGBTQIA representation in the workplace, and Caitlin’s personal and professional journey to leadership. As proud allies, we teamed up with NBA legend Dwyane Wade to support The Wade Family Foundation and Translatable. Through The RealReal, Wade shared 75 unique pieces from his collection, with proceeds benefiting Translatable—a safe space for LGBTQIA youth and their families. Thank you to everyone who helped make this Pride Month so special! Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gk6wDe2v

Introducing Realcycle ♻️ This new, ongoing series showcases creative partnerships with designers who transform previously unwearable items into innovative, upcycled pieces. Created by Ian Allen Greer, our first collection is designed to evoke optimism as the days grow longer and hotter. Each handmade piece is crafted from cotton and linen items unfit for sale from TRR’s inventory, which Greer hand-dyed in his Brooklyn studio using plant-based pigments sourced from flowers, plants, minerals, and food waste. To ensure circularity in every step, Greer incorporated locally-grown flowers and repurposed food waste from NYC-based restaurants. Together, these methods allowed us to breathe new life into each piece, embracing imperfections as part of the garment's story and character. Thank you to our Black Employee Network Employee Resource Group (BEN ERG) 👏🏽👏🏾👏🏿

“If people have been taught to hate then they can be taught to love…You’ve got to know that July 4th freed the land but Juneteenth freed the people.” Dr Opal Lee to the crowd at the Juneteenth march in Dallas this morning. I’m blessed to work for an organization that values, embraces and cultivates a culture of belonging. This week, I commend The RealReal’s Black Employee Network Employee Resource Group for hosting an internal dialogue called “Crowning Glory” - an empowering conversation on the CROWN Act and promoting diversity in the fashion industry. Their dedication to advancing awareness and understanding within our organization is essential for progress.

Today marks the unveiling of our thought-provoking exhibit in the heart of NYC's Canal Street — a location synonymous with counterfeit culture. Running from June 13th to early September, this installation poses the question "what's real?" by encouraging viewers to look beyond the superficial in considering and qualifying authenticity. Since 2011, The RealReal has been a leader in combating counterfeit items. Through continuous investments in expert training and proprietary technology, we've removed approximately 250,000 fraudulent items from the market. We're proud to continue these efforts and fulfill our mission of extending the life cycle of luxury goods. Join the conversation about how to discern “what’s real”! Thank you to The New York Times for covering our pop-up and helping to ignite the conversation: https://lnkd.in/g7BwZQzN
