DIRECTOR OF OPTOELECTRONICS MANUFACTURING Oversee the entire manufacturing process, ensuring the efficient and high-quality production of microelectronics and optoelectronics assemblies. At the core of the optoelectronics assemblies are “optical engines,” consisting of optics, electronics, and optoelectronic devices. Responsibilities: Production Oversight: Lead and supervise the manufacturing team to ensure seamless production operations. Manage a local staff of functional managers which report to you and other managers which report solid line to functional heads in other locations and dotted line to you. These dotted line responsibilities could include test development, quality, HR, and other functions. Implement and optimize manufacturing processes with a focus on efficiency and quality. Site Oversight: Drive site leadership team to excel in all site functions; some with solid line relations and others with dotted, as noted above. Microelectronics Packaging Expertise: Leverage in-depth knowledge or microelectronics, including flip chip, wire bonding, die attach, and thermal bonding of wafers. Oversee and guide the team in the execution of complex microelectronics processes. Semiconductor Operations Management: Utilize semiconductor processing experience to streamline operations and enhance production capabilities. Act as a key contributor to strategic planning for semiconductor-related projects. Quality Control: Implement and maintain rigorous quality control measures to ensure the delivery of high-quality products. Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address and resolve any production issues promptly. Optical Engine Integration: (Preferred) Leverage optical engine background to contribute to projects involving optical technologies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate optical components seamlessly into microelectronics products. Required/Preferred Experience: Experience in Microelectronics or Semiconductor manufacturing with experience in Operations or Plant management. Extensive & Proven experience in microelectronics packaging, optoelectronics, flip chip, wire bonding, die attach, thermal bonding of wafers, and semiconductor processing of both logic IC’s and optoelectronic IC’s such as lasers, detectors, and physical layer ASIC’s. Background in semiconductor operations management and knowledge of optical engine technology will be considered a significant advantage. Prior experience in semiconductor processing and semiconductor operations management. Familiarity with optical engine technology is a plus. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field. Design, build and maintain the world’s peak-performing aircraft. IN YOUR ROLE YOU WILL: Encourage and promote a safe work environment by supervising a safety/security program. Ensure that regular established safety/security audits are conducted and discrepancies are addressed. Perform supervisory responsibilities for assigned employees and area(s), for example, time card and vacation approvals, PMP and 30/60/90 day reviews, opportunities for professional development and training, personnel decisions concerning hire, fire, disciplinary issues, and salary adjustments, as well as employee schedules and leave. Oversee and manage the resources to maximize productivity and minimize DOI. As required, submit requests for engineering support (RED's, RFE's, SRPSA's and installs) in direct support of operations for all product lines. May be required to act on behalf of Customer Project Manager during absence. Support UMT, including, for example, coordination of tooling and parts, scheduling personnel, and aircraft return-to-service. Administers team related policies & procedures. Manage time keeping system to ensure employee hours are accurate, and track attendance. Coordinate technical shop floor issues, such as engineering, specialized tooling requirements, etc. Facilitate DMM meetings with all departments & shops. Monitor housing and facilities for compliance with 14 CFR 145.103 and report any insufficiency. Identify and communicate best practices and champion continuous improvement initiatives. Engage in BAS Network Database and transfer SAP Work Orders into database. Engage in BAS Network Reporting. (Shop Floor Efficiency) IDEAL CANDIDATE: Minimum of 5 years of experience in performing aircraft heavy/line maintenance.
