About us

The Peyton Walker Foundation was established in 2013 after the untimely passing of Peyton Walker, a vibrant and ambitious nineteen-year-old college student, who died of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). SCA is a sudden, abnormal, and potentially fatal heart rhythm that causes the heart to beat ineffectively or stop altogether. Survival requires immediate CPR and defibrillator treatment, with typical survival rates being less than 10%. We aim to ensure that “the beat will go on” for other young people with undetected heart issues, allowing them to grow into healthy adults. According to the American Heart Association, SCA is the leading killer of student-athletes in the United States, with one competitive athlete estimated to die suddenly every three days. Our mission is to increase awareness and survival rates of SCA through education, screenings, and training. To date, we have provided FREE heart screenings, leading to potential life-saving medical attention for some. Additionally, we host screenings, distribute AEDs in the community, and offer CPR/AED training to enhance emergency response and save lives.
