Earlier this week, we were fortunate to receive incredible support from the High Foundation to equip local Lancaster non-profits with AEDs and CPR/AED training. Some of our recipients include: Bridge of Hope Serving families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the Lancaster area. Anchor Lancaster Providing a hot breakfast and warm showers every weekday, while aiding with other essential needs. Bench Mark Program A strength-based family of mentors using weight lifting, academics, and career coaching to propel at-risk youth towards success. Good Samaritan Services Compassionately responding to homelessness and poverty across Lancaster and Chester Counties. #HeartHealth #CommunitySupport #AEDAwareness #SavingLives

About us
The Peyton Walker Foundation was established in 2013 after the untimely passing of Peyton Walker, a vibrant and ambitious nineteen-year-old college student, who died of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). SCA is a sudden, abnormal, and potentially fatal heart rhythm that causes the heart to beat ineffectively or stop altogether. Survival requires immediate CPR and defibrillator treatment, with typical survival rates being less than 10%. We aim to ensure that “the beat will go on” for other young people with undetected heart issues, allowing them to grow into healthy adults. According to the American Heart Association, SCA is the leading killer of student-athletes in the United States, with one competitive athlete estimated to die suddenly every three days. Our mission is to increase awareness and survival rates of SCA through education, screenings, and training. To date, we have provided FREE heart screenings, leading to potential life-saving medical attention for some. Additionally, we host screenings, distribute AEDs in the community, and offer CPR/AED training to enhance emergency response and save lives.

At The Peyton Walker Foundation, we are dedicated to increasing survival rates for SCA through education, AED distribution, and CPR/AED training. Every minute counts during a cardiac event, and having AEDs readily available in the community can save lives. That's why we're proud to be part of the 4-Minute Community Program (4-Minute City) initiative, aiming to spread this lifesaving program throughout Central PA. Together, we can give our neighbors the chance they need during a cardiac emergency. #SuddenCardiacArrest #SCAAwareness #4MinuteCity #HeartHealth #CPRTraining #AED
We're proud to share that a member of our 4 Minute Community CARE Team in Cumberland County, PA, utilized an Avive Connect AED to administer a critical defibrillation shock to a neighbor in cardiac arrest this past week. This heroic response was made possible by Cumberland County's emergency telecommunicators, and through Avive’s Intelligent Response platform, which empowers 911 to alert nearby AEDs and civilian responders in close proximity to a cardiac arrest. Dr. Benjamin Abella, MD MPhil FACEP FAHA, leading SCA researcher and Director of the Center for Resuscitation Science at the University of Pennsylvania, praised the actions of the Cumberland CARE team, stating, "Bystander AED use, particularly in residential settings, has consistently posed a challenge in improving survival rates for sudden cardiac arrest victims. This milestone for the 4 Minute Community program gives us hope that innovative technologies and strategic AED placements like these, can indeed save more lives." We are honored to collaborate with Cumberland County, PA, where the Avive 4 Minute Community program was launched under the leadership of the The Peyton Walker Foundation, and through the efforts of the Emergency Health Services Federation, Cumberland County 911, local EMS, UPMC and Penn State Health. This response marks one of multiple instances in which Avive Connect AEDs were deployed by CARE Team members in 4 Minute Community programs just this past week.
