Earlier this month we held our first Instructional Leadership Bootcamps of the year! We held two incredible sessions where facilitators Alexis Ulaj and Brandon Sorlie led 20 participants from schools across the city to explore how high-quality 1-on-1 observation and feedback can have an instant impact for teachers and students. We're already looking forward to our second Bootcamp, "Leveraging Batched Observation Feedback" in mid-September. Interested in participating? Head on over to our website where registration is now open! bit.ly/TOTBootcamps #InstructionalLeaders #InstructionalLeadership #Bootcamps #AcademicCoaching #StLouisEducation #STLSchools

Join us as we celebrate the incredible work done by the first cohort of our Instructional Leadership Fellowship (ILF) who graduated from the program this summer after 2.5 years of hard work and dedication to improving their craft. In addition to monthly learning sessions, Fellows were eager to engage in one-on-one coaching, visits to exceptional schools across the nation, and a capstone project in which they demonstrated the impact of their academic leadership on their school sites. Congratulations to our graduates Nick Guadiana, Sarah Draper, Marian Fukuyama, Beverly Velloff, Susan Hill, Ed.D., and Amy Willems! We are so grateful to have taken this journey with you all and we can't wait to see how you continue to leverage your new skills in service of your community. None of this would have been possible without the expertise of Michael (Mickey) Wagner and Aida Cruz-Farin of TNTP, who helped ensure Fellows' learning opportunities were intentional, data-driven, and applicable. We are always impressed by your leadership and are so proud of the work we've done together in pursuit of better student outcomes. We look forward to sharing more about our current cohorts, but for now, please help us celebrate our groundbreaking ILF alumni and their dedication to improving the classroom experience for students and teachers across St. Louis! #InstructionalLeaders #InstructionalLeadership #InstructionalLeadershipFellowship #ILF #ILFCohort1 #TOTCelebrates #TNTP #Fellowship Ayanna Banks, MBA, MEd Justin Cutts

Tomorrow is a BIG day for us, a day we’ve been preparing for since mid-February. When we set out to reimagine what education can look like for our students in North County, we knew that the most important thing we could do would be to put a team of talented and dedicated educators in front of our little leaders. Tomorrow we welcome 25 trail-blazing, change-makers to our team to begin the process of creating a blueprint for what education could and should look like for black and brown students in St. Louis. We have worked hard to prepare for this, but what matters more than anything else is that we have the right people on-board; a team that will do anything to ensure our students are prepared for a life of choice and opportunity. Let the countdown continue…19 days until the real magic begins with our little leaders.

"At The Opportunity Trust, we believe in our bones that all kids can learn at the highest possible level. Boards theoretically exist to ensure that we fulfill that promise, but they need to be dramatically rebuilt to fulfill that mission." In a recent interview with Franklin Street Studio, collaborators on the design of our School Board Fellowship experience, co-facilitators Jesse Dixon, and Brittany Hogan, MSW, ACSW highlighted the fellowship's role in empowering school board members to improve equity and academic outcomes. After a successful first year, we are excited to announce the 2024-25 School Board Fellowship! School Board Fellows will learn about the role of school boards, how they work, and the kind of change that can be achieved through strong governance, before exploring strategies for how to govern effectively. Fellows will also network with existing school board members to improve access to governance opportunities; 65% of SBF cohort 1 alums have joined a public charter school board, and more have plans to run for elected school board positions in their communities. Leaders from all industries are encouraged to apply; fellows will be able to contribute their expertise in areas such as finance, marketing, technology, human resources, education, community relationships, and/or their representative lived experience. Learn more on our website, where you can sign up for our virtual information session on Tuesday, July 30th, at 5:30 p.m. https://lnkd.in/gQKP-kJf #StLouis #STL #Educator #SchoolBoard #Community #SchoolBoardFellowship #SBF #Leadership #Governance
