I am thrilled to celebrate the remarkable journey and achievements of the six outstanding individuals who have just completed The Instructional Leadership Fellowship (ILF), a two-and-a-half-year program we led in collaboration with The Opportunity Trust, designed for aspiring school and instructional leaders. This program, which I had the honor to help shape and lead with the support of some incredible colleagues (Jonathan Richard, Aida Cruz-Farin, Suzanne Lipovsky, Ayanna Banks), was a comprehensive and rigorous experience that included monthly professional learning sessions, two inspiring out-of-state school visits to Brooklyn and New Orleans, and personalized one-on-one coaching. Please join me in recognizing the incredible accomplishments of our Fellows: Nick Guadiana, Sarah Draper, Marian Fukuyama, Beverly Velloff, Susan Hill, Ed.D., and Amy Willems. Each of these leaders undertook and completed an impact project capstone that highlighted their dedication to enhancing student outcomes. Their projects were nothing short of incredible, demonstrating innovative approaches, unwavering commitment, and measurable impacts on their schools and communities. Nick Guadiana tackled student work analysis in PLCs, bringing transformative changes to his team at Kairos Academies. Sarah Draper developed and led a comprehensive tier-two academic intervention program, resulting in significant academic growth for North Side Community School students. Marian Fukuyama employed 360 wraparound services and interventions for students struggling with attendance, which led to increased attendance and academic outcomes. Beverly Velloff executed a secondary math curriculum rollout that was truly incredible, achieving considerable staff buy-in, and is already leading to early increases in student achievement. Dr. Susan Hill drove the adoption and continued implementation of an elementary literacy-based social studies curriculum, culminating in strong growth in ELA achievement. Amy Willems spearheaded an effort to support her colleagues in utilizing best practices in reading instruction at City Garden Montessori School, resulting in considerable reading achievement gains over the year for students in grades K-2. Their dedication and hard work over these past two and a half years have been truly inspiring. From our monthly learning sessions to the in-depth school visits, and through the personal coaching sessions, these fellows have shown exceptional growth, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to excellence in education. Congratulations, Nick, Sarah, Marian, Beverly, Susan, and Amy! Your leadership and passion for education are making a significant difference in the lives of students. I am excited to see how each of you will continue to influence and inspire in your future endeavors.

The St. Louis region has an amazing ecosystem of concerned and invested citizens. Seventeen (17) of these folks took the next step in fulfilling their civic duty by signing up for -- and successfully completing -- our inaugural School Board Fellowship (SBF). These awesome individuals have invested their time and energy in understanding and preparing to serve on a school board and are poised to make an amazing impact. The School Board Fellowship focused on four key things: 1. Building a network of like-minded public education advocates, 2. Learning about the education landscape in St. Louis and how to support public education, 3. Understanding how to be an effective school board member, 4. Supporting our fellows to join a charter school board, run for elected school board, or pursue other opportunities. As one of the fellows reflected, "The group of people in this cohort make me really excited because they are all so engaged, and they all have completely different backgrounds. I am optimistic that we can impact change regionally by taking the time to question and understand where the disparity lies and better understand not just how to address disparity...but how to be more equitable with resources and engagement.“ For more information about our school board fellowship visit our website: https://lnkd.in/gQKP-kJf #SBF #SchoolBoardFellowship #StLouis #Volunteerism #CommunityService #BoardService #Education #STLEducation #StLouisPride #CivicLeadership #SchoolBoardFellowship #SBF #CommunityImpact #EducationLeaders #InvestedCitizens #STLRegionalEducation #BoardGovernance #EquityDriven #LeadershipDevelopment #MakingADifference #CommunityService #JoinTheMovement #EducationAdvocates #LeversforSuccess #EmpoweredCommunities #FellowshipJourney #OpportunityTrust

🎊 Last in our celebration, but certainly not least, congratulations to our 2024 Upperclassman of Excellence Award recipient Matthew Norton, from Maplewood-Richmond Hgts. High School. As one of Matthew’s teachers, Mr. Williams remarked: “Matthew is not just a good student… he’s also been able to display a strong and caring character which I think goes far beyond. Matthew has grown immensely and continues to take on and face new challenges. Through all of them, he shows grit and a willingness to step outside his comfort zone.” Matthew recently graduated and plans to attend college to pursue a degree in psychology and social work. Congratulations, Matthew, on this incredible achievement! We are so excited to watch you continue to leverage your tenacity and academic excellence into a bright future for yourself and your community. #STLEDAWARDS2024 #TOTCELEBRATES
