Creative Mornings at the Navy Yard bring new ideas and inspiration to employees and visitors alike! This morning designer Nick Vicente reflected on how he has built creative communities in Philadelphia, a project close to our hearts as we expand the Navy Yard from a business campus to an innovation hub to Philly's newest neighborhood with residential buildings, public space, and more. Creative Mornings are FREE, open to the public, and a great way to connect and network. Find an upcoming event here: navyyard.org/events

Welcome to the Navy Yard, @life.at.biomerieux! Last week, we cut the ribbon bioMérieux's brand new $125 million Molecular and Genomic Innovation Center. The French biotechnology company now has a 32,000-square foot space in the newly developed 1201 Normandy Place. BioMerieux chose the Navy Yard “because it offers opportunity for growth and was already home to clients and potential clients.” Read more below!

We are building the next generation of the life-sciences workforce in Philadelphia, thanks to support from Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, who secured $525,000 to fund the Biomedical Technician Training (BTT) program as part of the Navy Yard Skills Initiative. Congresswoman Scanlon joined PIDC and our partners at the Wistar Institute to visit the BTT space this week.

Read all about how we worked closely with Group X and FriendsWithYou to bring our latest public art installation to the Navy Yard! So many Navy Yard employees and visitors have come to Crescent Park to enjoy Seated Little Cloud, relaxing on blankets or doing a yoga session by the serene inflatable sculpture. This happy cloud is connecting people with each other and nature. At PIDC, public art and urban development come together to create community!
A new 35-foot cloud inflatable is seated at Navy Yard through September

History is still being made at the Navy Yard! Yesterday, we hit an important milestone with the christening of the Patriot State, the second of four training ships for the US Navy built in Philadelphia at the Philly Shipyard, Inc. 🎉 Thank you to all of our guests, especially the Office of the Secretary of the Navy, Representative Mary Gay Scanlon, and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, who spoke with CBS Philadelphia about Philadelphia’s shipbuilding legacy and what this ship means for our nation–and for the hundreds of workers at the Navy Yard who made it a reality. The Center City shuttle service will be discontinued Tuesday afternoon (9/10), due to security measures enacted by Secret Service, the Philadelphia Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies that will disrupt vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the area. NRG Station Loop will still be in operation.
