I was genuinely taken aback to learn that even women in their 60s sometimes lack a basic understanding of why menstruation occurs. Last month, I had the privilege of conducting Menstrual Awareness Campaign for a government school in Belgaum. Before visiting this school, I had been to my aunt's place and when I was asked about this event, I explained her the campaign and the science behind menstruation.  Her surprise at the detailed facts and mechanisms highlighted just how deep-seated the taboos around menstruation are, & how much we lack awareness in cities not just in India but around the world. This experience underscored the crucial need for open conversations and education on menstrual health. I'm incredibly grateful for the chance to contribute to breaking down these stereotypes and spreading knowledge among young girls and boys. A heartfelt thank you to The Kind Citizen - TKC for this opportunity and to Menstrupedia for their beautifully illustrated and informative books. I look forward to doing more such awareness campaigns.
