The IETF has just awarded its 100th scholarship through the Catherine Rice Scholarship Program! Each year, we present scholarships to college students with essential tremor to support their higher education goals. This program would not be possible without generous donations from our ET community. On behalf of our 100 student winners, THANK YOU!! https://lnkd.in/ebrx7xk

There is a need for additional studies to clarify cerebellar pathological findings in essential tremor (ET) in order to support or refute the hypothesis that ET may be a neurodegenerative disorder of the cerebellum. The IETF's 2024 Research Grant recipient will use enhanced methods to study findings in the human cerebellum. Congratulations to Dr. Holly Shill, principal investigator of this study. https://lnkd.in/gDX3W_C2

We are so thankful for Helen's leadership as an essential tremor support group leader in Connecticut, and for her efforts to bring awareness to essential tremor. Congratulations on being named an Essential Tremor Awareness Champion by Praxis Precision Medicines! https://lnkd.in/gGWCssMw
#EssentialTremor Awareness Champion, Helen, actively serves the ET community. As a support group leader, she offers a safe space to talk openly about the impact of ET on daily life, share ideas and feel connected. And, as a person living with ET, Helen advocates for awareness. Each year, she works with the Governor’s office to declare ET Awareness Month in Connecticut. Her hope is to make others more accepting of #essentialtremor. Thank you, Helen, for speaking up and serving others! Learn more about the Connecticut ET Support Group: https://lnkd.in/esuCrWxs #essentialtremor #DareforMore

This is the project coordinated by Brianna Matzke, assistant professor of music at Wilmington College in Ohio. She was diagnosed with ET when she was in graduate school. Through this project she is raising awareness to ET and the lived experience of ability and disability. Brianna was featured in our June 2023 issue of Tremor Talk magazine.
Celebrated pianist Brianna Matzke created The Response Project with a goal of commissioning composers and artists from a variety of media to create new works in response to a specific artwork or idea. This year, Matzke – a professor of music at Wilmington College (OH) – decided to make the Response Project more personal. Much more personal. It is called, very simply, “Tremor.” The title is in response to Matzke’s discovery that she has a neurological condition known as an essential tremor, which affects her hands. Part 1 of this year’s Response Project begins April 28. Matzke will perform on May 5. Read more in this piece by David Lyman.
