Duplicate imaging is a serious issue in health care. It's expensive and uses up limited resources, not to mention the burden on patients. Evaluators at the Partnered Evidence-based Policy Resource Center looked at whether a health information exchange between the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs could reduce duplicate imaging for Veterans. Health services researchers from the Partnered Evidence-based Policy Resource Center (PEPReC) analyzed COVID-19's impact on racial and ethnic disparities, revealing that minoritized Veterans experienced higher rates of severe illness and excess mortality.
