About us
The Community Preservation Corporation (CPC) was launched in 1974 through a joint agreement between the City of New York and its leading commercial banks to restore and rebuild New York’s aging neighborhoods. CPC itself was an innovation when it was founded, and we carry that founding spirit with us as we operate today. Join us all year long as we celebrate our 50th anniversary (#CPC50th) by highlighting how the CPC has evolved and expanded our reach to become a consistent source of capital to underserved housing markets throughout New York City and in communities across the state. Our deep, strategic relationships with government agencies, community groups, banks, and other investors has positioned CPC as a trusted partner who works hand-in-hand with housing providers to create customized financing solutions. CPC has financed more than 225,000 affordable housing units to date. With roughly $14.4 billion in public and private investments, our work has helped revitalize countless neighborhoods and provided quality housing for low-income families, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities.

We were happy to be at the mayor’s event this morning to celebrate the #affordablehousing wins in the NYC #FY25 #budget! This budget will help create and preserve affordable housing for our most vulnerable residents, expand #affordablehomeownership, and deliver much-needed support for NYCHA’s public housing. We are in a #housingcrisis here in NYC, and this $2 billion #investmentinhousing is critical.

Impact in Focus: In honor of CPC’s 50th year, and in celebration of completing renovations to 16 Manhattan NYCHA developments, we’re shining the spotlight on the PACT Renaissance Collaborative. In 2019, New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), the nation's largest housing authority, chose the PACT Renaissance Collaborative (PRC) to renovate and revitalize 1,700 apartments across 16 Manhattan developments that are home to nearly 3,000 residents. PRC is comprised of CPC, Monadnock Development, The Community Development Trust, Community League of the Heights (CLOTH), Kalel Companies, and Lemor Development Group. Our participation in NYCHA’s innovative PACT-RAD program further cemented CPC as a trusted organization committed to enhancing the living conditions of NYC residents. We’re delighted to have successfully transformed these buildings into the #affordable, #safe, and #equitable homes their tenants deserve. This work has a meaningful effect on the lives of New Yorkers, and we can’t wait to see how much more impact we can make in the next 50 years. Please follow along all year long as we celebrate our 50th anniversary by highlighting the projects, people, and communities that have made CPC what it is today. #CPC50th #50YearsofImpact #50YearsofInnovation

ICYMI: Emily Klein, our Senior Policy Analyst, testified at the New York City Council’s Committee on Housing and Buildings oversight hearing on the J-51 Tax Abatement. The new J-51 Tax Abatement was authorized by Governor Hochul in 2023 under the Affordable Housing Rehabilitation Program. Emily spoke in support of the City’s legislation to implement the State’s proposed #taxbenefitprogram for the rehabilitation of qualifying #multifamily rental buildings. As Emily testified, CPC believes that Intro 654 meets the needs of our current market and moment and we urge the Council to pass this vital tool needed so that building owners can finance the necessary work to maintain quality and #affordablehomes for New Yorkers. We’re proud to have been at the groundbreaking for the Bayview Avenue Apartments, in Inwood, Long Island! Yesterday, Isaiah Moultrie of Inwood Property Development, CPC’s Lawrence G. Hammond and Ehi Uwa, and local officials gathered to celebrate breaking ground on the development that will bring 48 #affordablehomes to the residents of Inwood. At 80% AMI, these one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments will be available to #veterans and #seniors. This project is special for Mr. Moultrie; it was originally envisioned by his parents. Reverend Isaiah Moultrie, a retired U.S. Marine who served as a pastor for over 50 years, established and managed a food pantry and church on two of the lots where the Bayview Avenue Apartments will stand. This important redevelopment reflects the Moultries’ ongoing commitment to the Inwood community. We’re grateful to those that helped make this happen, including New York State Homes & Community Renewal. Congratulations to all!
