Our team works closely not just with the patient, but also with their family and doctor to ensure personalized, holistic care. Our Physical Therapy team—made up of physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and registration specialists—is fully committed every day. Their dedication not only advocates for their patients but also promotes continuous learning and support within the team. We’re thrilled to announce that The Christ Hospital Health Network's Mended Heart Program has been named Hospital of the Year for the Central Region, an honor given to only five hospitals nationwide! This honorable award recognizes our hospital and volunteers for their incredible commitment to supporting The Mended Hearts, Inc. program and our local community. Since its start as a chapter at The Christ Hospital in 1976, Mended Hearts program has connected former heart patients with current cardiovascular patients, offering guidance, comfort, and understanding from someone who’s been in their shoes. Not only did we receive Hospital of the Year, but two of our exceptional volunteers, Lorraine Becker and Rick Gardner, were also honored with the Mended Hearts Accredited Visitor Excellence Award. Their dedication to serving patients and expanding the program’s reach is truly inspiring. We are beyond grateful for our amazing volunteers who provide compassion and empathy to our cardiovascular patients during some of the most challenging times in their lives. Sleep apnea affects over 22 million people, leading not only to restless nights but also to serious long-term health risks. At The Christ Hospital Health Network, our ENT specialists are at the forefront of innovative treatments to combat this condition. We’re proud to congratulate Matthew Hensler, MD, who, along with Joseph Hellmann, MD, has now successfully performed 100 procedures using the Inspire Medical Systems FDA-approved implant, a groundbreaking treatment for sleep apnea. "Being able to bring much needed relief and care for our patients is something our entire team takes pride in. Patients suffering from this sleep disorder have an option at a better quality of life through the Inspire implant." says Dr. Hensler. This advanced treatment helps keep airways open during sleep by activating nerves that move the tongue and palate forward with each breath. This past weekend, we were honored to host students from DePaul Cristo Rey High School for an inspiring morning at the first annual MD^2 Diversity Day, in partnership with University of Cincinnati. The event gave students a firsthand look at the exciting journey toward a medical career, featuring interactive sessions, a campus tour of our Mt. Auburn location, and brief shadowing experiences. We’re thrilled to provide mentorship and early exposure to these bright minds and can’t wait to see them shape the future of medicine!
