  • 🍎 Stronger Together in Combating Child Hunger: New York's Summer EBT Initiative We at The Campaign Against Hunger are thrilled to support Governor Kathy Hochul's announcement of nearly $200 million in food assistance allocated through the Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (Summer EBT) program. This critical initiative is set to support over 1.5 million low-income children across New York this summer by providing families with $120 per child to help cover the cost of healthy meals. 🌞 Program Impact and Rollout The distribution of benefits has commenced, aiming to reach an estimated 2 million eligible children. 📸 Visual Testimony of Collaboration Our recent gathering highlighted by Governor Hochul’s leadership, included influential partners from both government and nonprofit sectors. Also featured are our COO, Tamara Dawson, and Rachel Sabella, Director of No Kid Hungry New York. These images are a testament to the united efforts to combat child hunger effectively.

We recently celebrated a significant milestone at The Campaign Against Hunger with the ribbon-cutting of our new Hoop House at Saratoga Farm, made possible through the generous support of The Brady Hunter Foundation. This new facility is a game-changer for our Green Teens Program, particularly the Workforce Initiative, which empowers young adults with the skills to cultivate and distribute food. As we enhance our growing season, we bolster our commitment to nurturing a healthier, more sustainable future for our community. A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in making this vision a reality!

  • We're thrilled to celebrate the graduation of our Green Teens program participants! A special thank you to L M Development Partners LLC for generously providing the community space for today's ceremony. It was an honor to have Renae Cairns from Teens for Food Justice deliver the keynote address, and we are grateful to Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato for her presence and for presenting the certificates from the State Assembly's office. Dr. Melony Samuels, our founder, opened the ceremony, highlighting the incredible milestone of over 10,000 pounds of food grown by these young leaders this year. Congratulations to all our graduates! Your commitment to food justice and community service is not only inspiring but is making a tangible impact.

  • 🌱 Exciting News from The Campaign Against Hunger! 🌱 Yesterday, our CEO & Founder, Dr. Melony Samuels, warmly welcomed the 2024 cohort of the Green Teens Workforce! This transformative program offers young adults aged 18-24 the opportunity to gain hands-on agricultural experience. Through their dedication, these young leaders will be growing fresh, nutritious food that will be distributed directly to our clients in need. By combining education and practical skills, we are fostering a new generation of advocates for sustainable agriculture and food justice. We are incredibly proud of our Green Teens and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make in our community. #GreenTeens #YouthEmpowerment #FoodJustice #CommunityImpact #SustainableAgriculture

So excited to be able to share with you my latest project that I finished for The Campaign Against Hunger. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with over 25 nonprofits, each experience being incredibly rewarding, and this one is no exception.    TCAH (pronounced "tee-kah") was created to help stem the tide of food insecurity in New York City. With humble beginnings it is now affecting change in the lives of thousands of families. Its founder, Dr. Melony Samuels, is an unstoppable force for good with a single desire to ensure that no single person in her community goes hungry. Her passion is contagious, and from the moment I met her, I knew I would do whatever I could to help.   Saying I was blown away by Dr. Samuels’ achievements is an understatement. From their food pantry and warehouses to their urban farms and cyber pantry delivery service, TCAH is an awe-inspiring organization that made my job of telling its story infinitely easier. Meeting and collaborating with the incredible team was the icing on the cake. A special thanks to Tamara Dawson, Alton Samuels, Alison Kase, and the rest of the TCAH family for welcoming me and my team to share your story.   I also want to give a shout-out to my small but mighty team who made this possible: my creative collaborator and writer Ann Jonas, Wiley Kaupas (Director of Photography and Editor), Willie Petersen (Photographer) and Marco Toro (lighting/sound/second cam).    So please give it a watch when you have time and, if you have the means, please consider donating to this amazing organization. You'll sleep better knowing you helped make a difference—trust me. https://lnkd.in/gwtF4MHp
