Bringing in outside perspectives is critical when coordinating staff training to work with a young population. For example, we recently hosted the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network to speak with our team about supporting migrant and undocumented youth and the work they do with other youth organizations. Serving all young people in an equitable way is a core commitment we have, and we remain dedicated to keeping every young person in our community safe.

All Staff Wellness Event at Medicine Horse, our equine therapy partner! Staff enjoyed the outdoors while interacting with horses, goats, mini ponies and other animals & building connections as a team. What an amazing opportunity to engage with animals and enjoy both nature and our colleagues in order to reflect and reset. Equine therapy is offered to our program participants and are taught to view the horses as our partners. By working with them, they are able to develop self-awareness, learn how to connect better, and build relationships. #equinetherapy #endingyouthhomelessness #horsemedicine #equine #youthprograms

Nest56 is almost full! 40 young people who did not have a safe stable place to sleep a month ago are now sleeping comfortably in their new home. Young people like Seth & Arianna pictured here :) This building is a safe space for them to learn, grow, and become independent. They are both incredibly grateful to have this new home to help them get on their feet and be in the city within walking distance of the doctor, their jobs, and other resources they use. The name "Nest" echoes that sense of comfort and growth, with encouragement to spread their wings when ready. & at Nest56, TGTHR staff will provide tenants with behavioral healthcare, case management, education and employment support, life-skills development activities, inclusivity groups, and more. After living here for an average of 1-2 years, tenants are prepared to move into independent housing in the larger community. #endingyouthhomelessness #stoppingchronichomelessness #nest56 #denverhousing #supportivehousing

Happy Pride Month! Pride Month celebrates the lives, accomplishments, and talents of the LGBTQ community. All people deserve to be seen, heard, and affirmed, and although we practice that each day at TGTHR, June is an opportune time to rally once more around our LGBTQ friends to uplift them, show support, and share the larger message that all people matter. The LGBTQ community has always been resilient in the face of adversity. From Stonewall to the Supreme Court, we have united with our allies to secure the rights we all deserve. In 2024, as we celebrate the progress we’ve achieved, we are also reminded why it’s more important than ever to join together as a community. During Pride Month and beyond, it’s critical to keep in mind all aspects of allyship. From defeating anti-LGBTQ legislation and championing pro-equality elected officials to celebrating the joy, resilience, and beauty that LGBTQ people showcase every day. A couple weeks back we officially celebrated the grand opening of Nest56 with Mayor Mike Johnston! Now over half full, this building is a safe space for young people to learn, grow, and become independent after experiencing a tumultuous spring into adulthood. The word "Nest" echoes comfort and safety, with encouragement to spread their wings when ready. At Nest56, TGTHR staff will provide tenants with behavioral healthcare and case management, education and employment pathways, life-skills development activities, inclusivity groups, and more. After living here for an average of 1-2 years, tenants are prepared to move into independent housing in the larger community. Supportive housing is a critical component of Denver’s strategy to end homelessness, and we are proud to join this effort! [PS — Stay tuned for a secondary celebration special for TGTHR supporters, volunteers, and community partners!] #flashbackfriday #endingyouthhomelessness #supportivehousing #denverhousing #denvermayor #denversplantoendhomelessness #grandopening #rinoartsdistrict #denargomarket #nest56 #endyouthhomelessness

It's 9PM and as the heat of the day was starting to recede, we got a knock at the door of The Source. A pair of siblings, 15 & 16 years old, said they needed help and had been sleeping with a family friend for the past few months, but it became unsafe. We are constantly reminded how critical a youth shelter is for communities, oftentimes being the last safe option a teenager might have. But, we know that young people need more than a roof over their heads and clothes on their backs to thrive. They need safety, a network of support, education & employment opportunities, and resources to improve their overall physical & mental well-being. For over 14 years TGTHR's staff at The Source have provided all of this and more in a safe and inclusive environment to help youth. Whether that be a safe place to stay for one week, month, or year, we remain an integral part of Boulder's homelessness response system to prevent young people from experiencing homelessness as adults, and we are proud to continue to serve this community for many years to come. #thesource #bouldershelter #youthshelter #TGTHR #endingyouthhomelessness #preventingchronichomelessness
