The celebration continues! The San Joaquin Council of Governments broke ground this week on the State Route 99/120 Connector project to help move people and goods throughout the region. The improvements over the next two years or so will also improve traffic safety, reduce traffic congestion, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and improve air quality. For the first time in its history, SJCOG is leading the construction project and coordinating with Caltrans, City of Manteca, and Union Pacific Railroad. On July 17th, the San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG) hosted the groundbreaking ceremony for the SR 99/120 Connector Project. Located at the SR 99/SR 120 Interchange in San Joaquin County, near the City of Manteca, this project includes significant upgrades: - Widening the eastbound SR 120 to southbound connector ramp from one lane to two lanes. - Removing the Austin Road Overcrossing and replacing it with a new four-lane structure spanning SR 99 and UPRR. - Adding a new connecting road from Austin Road to East Woodward Avenue and Moffat Boulevard, along with modifications to the existing UPRR gated crossing at East Woodward Avenue. - Modifying the existing northbound Austin Road exit ramp to conform to the new overcrossing profile grade. The Teichert Construction project team attended the event to show support and connect with the individuals who have pioneered this project from its inception. We are thrilled to break ground on this initiative, which will bring multiple public health and safety improvements to the local communities and commuters who use this route daily. The project will have significant regional impact by improving safety and reducing congestion at a major highway interchange moving people and goods throughout the Northern California Megaregion and beyond. Our team completed rehabilitation work on the taxiways and connected new ones to the runway, involving extensive grading and paving. The aircraft you see are CalFire planes. Nighttime operations are in full swing! Our dedicated Teichert Construction paving crew is hard at work on the YOLO 50/80 project near Chiles Road. Equipped with nighttime PPE for optimal safety and visibility, they're working to beat the heat and reduce the impact on motorists. This extensive project involves rehabilitating and restoring about 7 miles of I-80 and 2.5 miles of US-50. Proud to collaborate with our partners at Flatiron on this significant endeavor. Teichert Construction is proud to be recognized by United Contractors with a R.E.A.L. Safety award “Most Unique Safety Project” for our stellar safety performance on the Maple Street Project in Redwood City that included complete reconstruction of Maple Street, a BCDC Bay Area Trail connection along the waterfront, and the extension of Blomquist Street from Maple Street to Redwood Creek. This program Recognizes Excellence, Awareness, and Leadership in safety within the construction industry. At Teichert, safety isn’t just a priority, it’s a commitment we make on every project. In spite of this being a technically challenging project performing structural excavation over a live 48-inch sewer force main serving 220,000 people and having to utilize a 210-ton crane to place and assemble pre-cast box culvert sections each weighing about as much as school bus, we completed the project (8,292 man hours) without incident or injury.
