CDS Clinical Associate Professor of Data Science and Psychology Pascal Wallisch has won the 2024 Golden Dozen Award for excellence in undergraduate teaching. Each year, the NYU College of Arts and Science recognizes 12 full-time faculty members for their outstanding contributions in the classroom, and it is the first Golden Dozen award for data science. This year, Pascal was nominated by both students and faculty, adding to his recognition as an exceptional educator at NYU, as he previously won the Golden Dozen award (in 2016) and the Teach/Tech award (in 2020). Wallisch helped to steer the burgeoning undergraduate degree program in Data Science during the Coronavirus and the subsequent scaling-up phase.

CEO of Headstarter AI | i talk about CS, Software Eng & AI | 10x hackathon winner | Frmr Senior Software Eng at Capital One

Truly something I wanted to do for the past 2 years. Yesterday I turned 25. Been 2 years since I left my $170K job at Capital One. I left because I got the eng job, helped my close friends get theirs and then wanted to do it for the world. The 7-week fellowship was our flagship product. It solved a real problem. School / CS is just 1 line on your resume. Its the experiences, skills and projects under that really matters. BUT for the longest we charged money for it. ($300-$500). It was super successful with many landing $150k-200K roles 6-12 months after completion. This time, and idk if it'll happen again, we are running it back the 8th time. For free. This is all thanks to our sponsors like Intel, several AI unicorn companies and startups. THIS IS LITERALLY THE KEY TO LANDING THAT HIGH PAYING JOB. So here goes. We say bismillah, let's go! Apply here now : https://tally.so/r/w4jK2O #softwareEnginering #computerScience #schoolCanBeAnL

Incoming TDP Associate @ PNC | Math & CS Graduate, NYU

I am excited to announce that I have graduated from NYU with a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics, and will be starting a new role at PNC Bank this coming August! The past 4 years have been an extremely insightful period of growth and learning academically, professionally, and personally. During this time period, I was able to delve into my academic interests, gaining the opportunity to pursue research, and dive into the entrepreneurial event space! Within my last year, I successfully published my first paper with Fox Lab, exploring relations between socioeconomic status and music listening patterns. I would like to thank our lab PI, Pascal Wallisch for being a such a wise mentor and advisor, and Ghina Al Shdaifat for her leadership in this research. I'd also like to thank my co-authors, Ziyue Zhou, Anushay Anjum, Suha Memon, Ishita Patil, Amy Goltermann, Amalia Korniyenko, and Mohammed Elreweny in their support. It was an honor to work on this project with such a great team! This year, I also led NYU Startup Week with Tech@NYU, where we spent a week hosting entrepreneurial tech events, featuring a multitude of guest speakers and workshops! I'm very grateful that I was able to continue the legacy of Startup Week since its takeoff in 2013, and after its revival in 2023, as these events reflect the passion for creativity in technology present so strongly within the entrepreneurial community. I would like to thank Steven Gutentag for helping to kick off these events as our keynote speaker, alongside our wonderful guest speakers, including but not limited to Thomas Kang, Wesley Block, Danny Kim, Jolly Patel, and many others! I would also like to show my appreciation for our advisors Frank Rimalovski, Joan DeGennaro, Evan Korth, Stanley Virgint, and Anthony Sukotjo for all of their guidance and support, our leadership team, Lena Lin and Kelly Mao, my Startup Week co-lead Indeera Saha for working in tandem with me to ensure the success of these events, and the rest of our team, Parul Veda, Lauren Zhou, Spriha Jha, Sean Lai, Michael S., Sanjay Chunduru, Jin Lee, Aileen L., Benjamin Liang, and Maddy L. for being so proactive and taking initiative every step of the way. I'm excited to see how Michael, Sean, and Parul carry out Startup Week in 2025! As I move on to my next chapter at PNC Bank, I look back on these last 4 years knowing that the work I put into my time here will stay with me throughout my career, along with the support of everyone I met and worked with. Looking forward to seeing what's next!
