Kindergarten ELA Teacher at Rocketship Rise | TFA Corps 2024 | Georgetown University Alumna

Words cannot even express how wonderful the past few weeks have been! This Friday marked the end of my time at Ingenuity Prep, where I worked as the 5th Grade ELA instructor for their summer school program. I have to offer a huge shoutouts to Glenn Huang for being the best Summer School Director anyone could ask for, and to Frances Pierre and Erika Knapp for leading our entire cohort brilliantly. To my cohort peers -- you all are incredible, and working with you recently has been one of my greatest pleasures. Each and every one of you is going to be an incredible teacher! My Teach For America journey in DC will continue later this summer as I begin Leadership Development at my fall placement school -- I will be working at Rocketship Public Schools as a Kindergarten ELA Teacher! I cannot wait to apply all that I've learned this summer and continue working to improve my skills as a new educator. Most importantly, to the kiddos in my first ever class (not pictured here): I love you all dearly, just from our short time together. Every card you wrote, every hug you gave, and every smile you wore will live with me forever. You all are brilliant, and working with you was the greatest privilege. #TeachForAmerica #Education #NewTeacher

As we commemorate the incredible achievement of Apollo 11, we can build an education system that truly empowers every student to reach for the stars. #Apollo11

Fifty-five years ago today, #Apollo11 astronauts began their journey to the moon. Our country united around President Kennedy’s call to action in 1962, and after seven years of collective effort, the first human walked on the moon. We turned what some thought was impossible into a reality. With so many longstanding challenges in education intensified by the pandemic, I am particularly inspired by the story of Apollo 11. I believe we can come together as a country to meet the moment in education the way we did in 1969 to put a man on the moon. We can launch a moonshot for education with urgency, innovation, creativity, and partnership. We can create an education system that prepares all students to lead lives of choice and opportunity. As we remember one of our country's most significant accomplishments this week, let’s reflect on what we’ve learned about how to do hard things together. Let’s envision an education system that allows all students to unleash their fullest potential, and then work together to make it a reality.

    Educator and TFA Corps Member

I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be joining Gwinnett County Public Schools this fall as an 8th-grade English Language Arts teacher for Shiloh Middle School. I value this opportunity to inspire young minds and foster a love for literature and creative writing. I am grateful to Kelly Education Services and Bibb County School District, where I served as a long-term substitute teacher between fall 2023 and spring 2024. During that time, I gained valuable knowledge about classroom management, supporting students, and pedagogical philosophy. My experience with KES and BCS will continue to inform my future choices as a classroom leader. Furthermore, this would not be possible without the training I received from Teach For America. I am especially thankful for the orientation and the four weeks of practicum training with TFA and Kipp Woodson Park educators. I am proud to be part of TFA’s Teacher Corps and look forward to supporting this upcoming generation of young leaders!
