About us

TCHO Chocolate is a Certified B Corporation. Founded in 2008, TCHO Chocolate crafts award-winning and imaginative chocolate by collaborating directly with cocoa farmers at flavor labs across the world to grow better, more consistent cacao beans to create authentic craft chocolate to inspire the world’s chefs, hobby bakers, and chocolate enthusiasts. Like wine or coffee, cacao’s inherent flavors vary based on the terroir where it is grown, as well as on key processes, like fermentation or roasting, that influence the development of flavor. Since not all cacao is created equal, TCHO established TCHO Source, a one-of-a-kind sourcing and educational partnership with farmers, co-operatives, and agronomists all over the world. By installing TCHO Flavor Labs in key cacao-producing locations, creating industry cacao sensory analysis standards, conducting sensory training, developing standardized fermentation and drying processes, improving infrastructure, and sharing information throughout the world of cacao, TCHO has turned its suppliers into co-creators. From there, TCHO hand-selects every ingredient used to craft its award-winning chocolates for a great experience from first glance to last bite. As a certified B Corporation, we lean on our founding value of curiosity to find new ways to use our business to better the world through chocolate. That's why TCHO is Chocolate. Fair & Square. A Sweet Start to Ripple Fest! The TCHO Chocolate Factory Tour 🍫 The day before last week's #RippleFest, the OSC Packaging Collaborative had the pleasure of touring the TCHO Chocolate Factory in Berkeley, CA. The visit was a remarkable deep dive into the world of high-quality chocolate and sustainable practices. Thank you to the entire TCHO team, and especially to Josh Mohr, Laura Sweitzer, and Brett Fisher for hosting, teaching, and inspiring! Key Takeaways from the TCHO Tour: Sustainable Sourcing: TCHO Source is TCHO’s unique program establishing partners throughout their supply chain to ensure quality sourcing, and care for all people along the way. With Laura Sweitzer as their Director of Sustainability and Strategic Sourcing, this combined approach ensures that the quality of cocoa is not compromised by pricing pressures. Responsible Practices: TCHO is committed to Fair Trade Certified and certified organic ingredients, and are known for their unique natural flavor profiles. Localized Origin Roasting: 93% of TCHO's cocoa is roasted in the same country where it’s grown. This model supports local communities and keeps financial investment within the origin country, while reducing shipping weight by 20% for significant savings on shipping costs and emissions. Awards: TCHO has just won two International Chocolate Awards for their Perfect Matcha and Dirty Chai bars. Congratulations and well earned! Our time at TCHO and the subsequent community meeting helped us build momentum for the remainder of this year, and into 2025. From these experiences and discussions we move forward with renewed purpose and inspiration. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this event both enjoyable and impactful! 🚀🌱🎯

Bravo on a great user experience, TCHO Chocolate! 🍫 I want to praise a brand that's truly delighted me. I keep thinking I should call them out and now I'm finally doing it. Their packaging rocks! Anyone else agree with me? It looks great, is easy to open AND easy to close, and they understand that I (and most people) don't—and shouldn't—eat an entire chocolate bar in one sitting. Inside the box are three small wrapped bars of chocolate instead of one. The graphics on the underside of the box are SUCH a delightful surprise, too. I also love the fun collabs they’re doing(Equator Coffees, Fieldwork Brewing Co., Third Culture). They’re not hiding the fact that they’re having fun thinking about how we, the customers, are going to interact with their product. I love seeing little details that show you're really thinking about how the end user might want to enjoy your product. One small thing we've done at Renewal Mill is put a ziplock seal on all our mix pouches. It makes sense for something like our 1-to-1 GF Flour mix, but for our cookie baking mixes? Well, we know that sometimes you’re the only one in your house who is gluten-free, and you want to make a little treat just for yourself. On our brownie mix, we (sort of) hid the recipe on the bottom gusset of the pouch to show you how to make a lil single mug brownie so you don't have to use the whole mix at once. We know our users can quarter or halve our mix instructions and save more for later. What other little details have you seen from CPG brands that make you go... "Oh, that's clever!"? (While I'm at it I have to add... The Hoppy Hour was so much fun to try with its clever effervescence 🫧, and their social media content is 🔥) #UserExperience #PackagingDesign #ThoughtfulDesign #CustomerExperience #CPGInnovation #Sustainability #FoodInnovation #ConsumerInsights #ProductDesign #SmallDetailsBigImpact #TCHOChocolate #RenewalMill #GlutenFreeLiving #BetterForYou #FoodPackaging #MugBrownie #SnackSmart

The Clif Family Winery is a longtime friend of TCHO's and shares our same commitment to sustainability, quality, and innovation. It was an honor to team up to help make Clif's wine and chocolate dreams a reality with Napa Noir. A warm, fudgy dark chocolate folded together with Peruvian cacao nibs aged in Clif's red wine barrels for 8 months and sea salt infused with Clif’s lush, berry-forward Kit's Killer Cab for the delightful combo of sweet, salty, tangy, and crunchy. It's truly the perfect wine and chocolate pairing. Take a glimpse behind the scenes of Napa Noir being made on production day with Sarah Richmond, from Clif. 🍫 Shop for the bar online at ClifFamily.com, TCHO.com or find it at the Clif Family Tasting Room in Napa Valley. https://lnkd.in/gbEd9aVC

Join us in welcoming, Aidan Keefe to a sweet journey ahead as our new Director of Finance! 🍫 With extensive experience in finance and analytics from Silicon Valley, Aidan brings invaluable expertise to our team. Fun fact: Aidan was born and raised in Berkeley but spent many years in Silicon Valley working in finance and analytics, however, it never felt quite like home to him. Aidan comes from a family where dessert was king—his great-grandmother would plan meals around the dessert, and his dad believed no dessert was better than fine chocolate. After his father's passing in 2022, Aidan finds comfort in being back in Berkeley, living in his childhood home, and working on a team dedicated to making the best chocolate at TCHO. Aidan's favorite chocolate at the moment is Born Fruity, our single-origin dark chocolate sourced from Peru. 🍫 Welcome to the TCHO family, Aidan!
