Co-founder and CEO of Talus Renewables, a modular green ammonia company enabling local production of a critical raw material, reliably and sustainably
The Farm Progress Show is a wrap. I had great conversations with industry leaders, farmers and representatives from local, state and federal government all week. Thank you Landus Cooperative for your partnership and support and to Prairie Energy Cooperative and MANNING MUNICIPAL UTILITIES for coming out to the site. Here a few themes I heard that get me even more committed to the impact we are creating at Talus Renewables: — Strong support and alignment across the industry to lower the cost of a critical raw material for American farmers. — Seeing first hand how Iowa’s farmers and agricultural innovation are leading the charge in new ways. — Hearing the significant interest in the reduction in carbon intensity score possible with green ammonia which doesn’t require a practice change or result in a loss in yield. Looking forward to exciting things in Boone, IA for local farmers. Talus is proud to be a leading company building a more sustainable world and supporting our US farming communities. More to come! #greenammonia #carbonfree #climateimpact #sustainablefarming #Iowafarmers

Thanks to the Iowa Corn Growers Association, who visited the talusOne at Boone, IA last week. In partnership with Landus Cooperative and groups like Iowa Corn, Talus will bring locally produced green ammonia to Iowa Farmers. Our discussion focused on how local production can lower cost and help secure America’s food supply by displacing a costly and unreliable supply chain, while being more sustainable.

Government policies and regulations are key drivers in the adoption and success of green ammonia. Here’s how recent policy shifts are creating new opportunities in green ammonia: 1. Incentives and Subsidies: Governments worldwide are rolling out incentives and subsidies to promote green ammonia production. For instance, the European Union’s Green Deal includes substantial funding for green hydrogen and ammonia projects. These financial supports are lowering entry barriers and making investments more attractive. 2. Carbon Pricing and Emission Targets: With increasing carbon pricing and stringent emission targets, industries are seeking sustainable alternatives like green ammonia to meet regulatory requirements. Policies that penalize high carbon emissions are pushing companies towards green ammonia, creating a surge in demand and investment opportunities. 3. Renewable Energy Integration: Policies promoting renewable energy integration are indirectly boosting green ammonia production. For example, mandates for renewable energy usage in industrial processes are driving the need for green ammonia, as it can be produced using renewable energy sources like wind and solar. 4. Infrastructure Development: Governments are also investing in infrastructure to support green ammonia, such as dedicated storage and transportation networks. This infrastructural support is essential for scaling production and distribution. 5. Global Collaboration: International agreements and collaborations, like the Paris Agreement, are fostering a global commitment to reducing carbon emissions. These collaborations often include provisions for green ammonia projects, providing a stable and supportive regulatory environment.
