How do you change mental models? That's a perennial question system leaders grapple with. While there's no one-size-fits-all approach, this brilliant episode of the System Catalysts podcast, hosted by the inimitable Jeffrey Walker and English Sall and featuring Marc Solomon's journey as a leader in the movement to legalize same-sex marriage in the US, offers important insights on what it takes to shift mindsets: crafting messages that speak to the heart (not the head); connecting system actors across power differentials who otherwise would not have crossed paths; and facilitating deep relational work though conversations that, over time, allow different beliefs to take root. Now in season 3, the System Catalysts podcast is a must-listen for educators and system leaders alike! https://lnkd.in/eb2PUmE2

The reality of nonprofit work is that sometimes organizations must compete for funding. This leads to less collaboration among organizations tackling the same systemic issues. But it doesn't have to be this way. Imagine if organizations joined forces and leaders supported each other—the impact could be exponentially greater. If you're a nonprofit leader seeking to enhance your leadership and achieve sustainable solutions through collective action, here are two essential resources to explore: 🎧 Our episode with Nick Grono, CEO of The Freedom Fund, on collaborating with funders, organizations, and community leaders to drive change: https://lnkd.in/gDEJUuaS 📖 Nick’s new book, How to Lead Nonprofits, on how to turn purpose into impact on your journey to change the world: https://lnkd.in/ejDqn5Wz

What's one effective systems change method? Thinking upstream. Take this inspiring example: Last year, Vice President Kamala Harris and the Partnership for Central America spearheaded efforts that secured over $950 million in private sector commitments for Northern Central America. Since 2021, these investments have surpassed $4.2 billion! These initiatives are tackling the root causes of migration by: ✅ Generating employment opportunities ✅ Bridging communities to the digital economy ✅ Enhancing financial inclusion for small enterprises ✅ Providing vital training and education for workers Thinking upstream goes well beyond slapping a band-aid on a problem. It’s directly addressing the root causes of inequity by shifting the focus to the system level and encouraging collaboration across sectors. 🎧 This episode with Jonathan Fantini Porter is proof that cross-sector collaboration is not only possible but is key to systems change: https://lnkd.in/eskS_j36
