About us
Synopsys Optical Solutions, formerly Optical Research Associates (ORA), is one of the world’s leading developers of optical design and analysis tools -- CODE V® imaging design software and LightTools® illumination design software. The group is also an independent supplier of optical systems design services, with more than 5,000 completed projects in imaging, illumination and optical systems engineering. In May 2012, Synopsys acquired RSoft Design Group, expanding the company’s portfolio of optical design and analysis software products. With the RSoft™ products, Synopsys has augmented the CODE V and LightTools product lines to provide a full spectrum of photonic and optical design solutions. In February 2014, Synopsys acquired Brandenburg, maker of the LucidShape line of CAD software for the design of automotive forward, rear and signal lighting and reflectors, as well as for general lighting. In addition to design software, Brandenburg offers LucidDrive for night driving simulation that generates almost photorealistic lighting scenes in real time. Designers use it to quickly and accurately evaluate beam patterns of vehicle headlamps prior to expensive fabrication and testing. Most top-tier car companies and their lighting OEMs use Brandenburg products. LucidShape’s new Pixel Light features to streamline the design and simulation of high-resolution pixel light headlamps. By subdividing the headlamp beam pattern into angular segments, each segment can be individually controlled and dynamically adapted to changing driving conditions. Discover the power of our conceptual pixel light driving simulation, ideal for initial requirement gathering and testing. Calculating shadow masks based on moving vehicle bounding boxes allows for real-time dynamic light distribution adjustments. This method runs efficiently on standard computer hardware, perfect for quick angular resolution studies. However, its ideal masking assumption makes it less suitable for final validation. Our physics-based pixel light driving simulation offers a detailed and accurate approach, considering each individual source pixel for precise optical performance predictions. This is particularly useful for verifying optical systems and evaluating the need for multiple lenses. #FeatureFriday #PixelLight #LucidShape

Check out this quick tutorial on how light bends through differently shaped mediums. Optics for the win! 💡Follow Cory Boone for more educational videos. 🌟
This video about how different kinds of optics bend light just jumped up to 2 million views on the Edmund Optics TikTok! While it doesn't go into much technical detail, these videos are great for introducing the field of optics to people who really don't know anything about it And unfortunately, that's the case for most people! My hope is that these videos are a foot in the door to make people appreciate the technology around them, become more interested in STEM in general, and in some cases actually pursue careers in optics and photonics #Optics #Photonics #STEM

We had a great time at META 2024, which was held last week in Toyama, Japan, from July 16 to 19. META, the international conference series on Metamaterials, Photonic Crystals and Plasmonics featured the latest developments in the area of metamaterials and nanophotonics. The Synopsys team conducted workshops, talk sessions, poster sessions, and held a booth exhibit. We appreciated the large number of participants at our sessions. Looking forward to the next event! #META2024 #Optics #MetaOptics #Metalens #Synopsys
