Our movement disorders neurologists Dr. Liz Ferluga and Dr. Jaime Hatcher-Martin, MD, PhD, FAAN had a great time attending the #MDSCongress2024 hosted by the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society where they explored the future of science and care. They caught up with colleagues from around the world, like Ray Dorsey - pictured here - who is one of Synapticure's Movement Disorders Advisors, to discuss the latest hot topics in Movement Disorders. Dr. Martin had this to share: "This year’s conference had a lot of great discussion regarding the need to have more objective methods of characterizing #ParkinsonDisease and its progression, especially in prodromal PD (those who will eventually develop PD but do not have clinical symptoms yet) and in the setting of clinical trials so we can better assess treatments and their effects. There was also a lot more discussion about multiple different types of pathology in movement disorders - Parkinson’s, PSP, MSA, #Huntington’s - and how it’s likely we will need to focus on multiple targets for effective treatments to slow the progression of these disorders.” We're excited to see how these discussions will drive future advancements in care and improve outcomes for those living with movement disorders.

I've been ruminating on my Rock Health experience at the Rock Health Summit earlier this month and an unique opportunity to join the Rock Health Advisory members meeting to participate in the panel "defining and measuring impact", sharing Digital Healthcare at Sanofi's experience in our partnership with DarioHealth and how big pharma can work effectively with digital health innovators. It still remains a considerable challenge to digital health innovators how to demonstrate value and impact to consumers, payers, providers, investors and stakeholders, given the misalignment of economic incentives across different sides of the health ecosystem. However, the energy, passion and purpose I felt with the Rock Health community gave me a confidence boost that when we unite with shared purpose and intent, we form a strong foundation on which to build understanding, forge new partnerships, explore new business models and find new ways to deliver the value of digital health to patients and consumers. To me, the most impactful and moving session was the bayside chat with Sandra Abrevaya, sharing her inspirational journey with Brian Wallach living with ALS, and how together they moved mountains with I AM ALS and more recently the caregiving business Synapticure Inc. to meet a tremendous unmet need for many families and care partners for people living with neurodegenerative conditions. Thank you for sharing with us your strength and resilience; for showing us the power of purpose; and for reminding us why we are in healthcare. Thank you Megan Zweig for this special invitation, and the opportunity to meet the A team at Rock Health Sari Kaganoff Katie Drasser Bill Evans Chris Lew Lucy Verheggen Adriana Krasniansky Rachel Soffer and more. #RHSummit24 #digitalhealth #healthcareinnovation #digitalhealthcare
