SVP: a network of engaged, active leaders creating change in our communities & enhancing social impact organizations.
About us
Social Venture Partners is a network of engaged, active leaders who create change in the communities in which they live. As a facilitator of social innovation, SVP Dallas hosts five social innovation luncheons each year as well as Dallas’ longest-running event for social innovation – bigBANG! which is focused on driving deeper conversations and innovative solutions for positive change in our community. Since 1999, SVP Dallas’ Partners have used their collective talents, wealth, and resources to support and advance organizations that address issues impacting social structures. These social impact organizations, including county programs, nonprofits, and for-profit businesses, tackle issues such as immigrant services, educational support, juvenile diversion, and so much more. As one of the six original founding Social Venture Partners International chapters, SVP Dallas uses the vast talents of our partners to reach from Collin to Dallas County. We do far more than just give grants and make impact investments. We develop the impact and capacity of social impact organizations; we provide education and opportunities for not only our Partners but for our community essentially, we do good better.

#ImpactInvesting Day at #bigBANG2024 brought together inspiring leaders on local social impact. Benjamin J. Vann of Impact Ventures and Amelia Nickerson from First Step Staffing shared how market-driven solutions can empower communities and drive economic resilience. Benjamin reflected on SVP’s role, saying, “SVP continues to champion innovative and market-based solutions to address our region’s challenges. I’m honored to stand on the work that SVP does to help uplift our residents.” ✨ Salah Boukadoum, founder of Impact City Initiative, offered three principles of impact investing. First, impact must be directly linked to the capital invested, not the enterprise's general community impact. Second, while impact investing can yield financial returns, the primary goal is to identify and scale sustainable solutions. Third, early investments should be cautious to avoid compromising future impact, using grants for initial risk and development. Carlos Martinez, Director of the SMU Impact Lab, discussed the lab's mission to foster entrepreneurial action and impact investing among students. The lab, supported by the Roger Philip Foundation, educates students on impact businesses and sustainable development goals. Together, these voices underscored the potential for change through strategic investment and partnership. #DoGoodBetter

The theme of day 2 at #bigBANG 2024 was #ImpactInvesting. At the beautiful Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Co-chairs Donovan Ervin (SVP Dallas Partner) and Michael Iyescas (Fossil Group, Inc.) kicked things off, bringing energy and heart to the room. Reflecting on the day, they emphasized core themes—purpose, love, and the beauty of imperfection. “The conference this year is focused on exploring our humanity in the face of great, technological, societal, political, cultural and even psychological change. And how do we hold on to our humanity, not only hold on to it, but deepen it and add further into it.” - Donovan Ervin

We are so glad that you could join us!! So much hard work and dedication go into these events, we appreciate the affirmation!
Last Thursday I had the incredible opportunity to attend the bigBANG! 2024 conference, hosted by Social Venture Partners Dallas at Paul Quinn College. I was joyfully overwhelmed by the lineup of speakers ranging from Financial Activists & Economists to Theology Professors and even the Youth Poet Laureate of Dallas. We were challenged to rethink our roles as individuals and as a collective in a world increasingly shaped by technology and reminded of the power each and every one of us hold to shape our future. Thank you to Dodee Frost Crockett, CAP®, CDFA®, SE-AWMA™ for the invitation and inspiration. Also loved seeing Alesia Coffman, CDFA®️ who is always so uplifting and encouraging. ✨ 🎉 It was truly illuminating to connect with thought leaders and innovators who are at the forefront of navigating these complex themes and I walked away from the afternoon energized and eager to explore these topics even further! #SVPDallas #artificialintelligence
