As New York grapples with its ambitious goal of 70% #renewableelectricity by 2030, the state is facing significant hurdles. Despite the push for #renewableenergy, a recent report predicts that NY will likely fall short of its goals by three years due to high costs and implementation delays. This scenario highlights a critical challenge not just for New York, but for all states aiming for aggressive climate targets. Whether the mandate is 2030, or 2033, Sustainable Westchester will continue to support our member municipalities and provide solutions that will help them work towards achieving their #climategoals and contribute to the #cleanenergytransition. https://lnkd.in/ecYGZcSk

The Biden-Harris Administration’s new Climate Capital Handbook which provides a simple, comprehensive map of federal funding opportunities—including grants, loans, loan guarantees, and cooperative agreements—for small- and medium-sized companies, both startups and established, focusing on clean energy technologies and other climate solutions. The programs highlighted in the Guide comprise hundreds of billions of dollars in grants, loans, loan guarantees, and other funding tools to spur the financing and deployment of new clean energy and climate projects — while simultaneously focusing on delivering cleaner air, good-paying jobs, and affordable clean energy to disadvantaged communities, energy communities, and other communities in need. Governor Hochul recently announced a major step towards a cleaner, greener New York, and is seeking proposals for the development of new large-scale land-based #renewableenergy projects which are expected to spur billions of dollars in #cleanenergy investments and create thousands of family-sustaining jobs in the State’s green economy. Administered by NYSERDA, this effort includes inflation indexing and labor provisions, climate resiliency and agricultural land preservation and commitments to disadvantaged communities. The process for submitting proposals into the land-based renewables solicitation will be conducted in two steps, with eligibility requirements due on July 15, 2024, to confirm that interested projects are eligible to bid, and final proposals due on August 8, 2024. https://lnkd.in/eBFg7zJW
