Dylan Attard MD, MRCSI, MEnt. is a surgeon turned entrepreneur who has forged an innovative pathway in the digital health and medical technology industries. He recently spoke to Surgery International about the challenges of starting out in the world of #digitalhealth. Researchers from ETH, Durich and the Chinese University of Hong Kong have succeeded for the first time in performing a magnetic endoscopy on a live pig using a remote control. Using a video game controller, a team in Switzerland successfully performed remote endoscopic surgery on the pig in Hong Kong, over 9,000km (5,780 miles) away. Still remember being a medical student doing my elective internship in Summer at QMUL London and Professor Shafi Ahmed being one of the consultant surgeons at hospital.
