On my first date with Julie Kriegshaber 8 years ago (who would later become my co-founder in life, and startups) — we somehow got talking about things in life we’d love to solve (yes, classic two startuppers on a first date 😅). As a 2nd time founder of a talent marketplace (I had then just started Chtrbox after Letsintern.com) - I have always been super passionate about connecting people to opportunities and had that as my north star. The second thing that I told her (ask her, she can validate!) was solving remote work and making it easier & more acceptable. In the pre-COVID era, I had been frustrated by the fact that most jobs were in person when tools had been out for years powering productivity everywhere, and the result is you’re limited by geography, not skill or personality, to find the perfect match. (Not to mention the massive environmental impact & stress of daily commutes & relocation). Fast forward 8 years later - we are co-founders behind SuperStuff which is solving for the future of work (including remote), we decided to build our team 100% remote from day 0. For us, it’s been a way to work with the right talent, no matter where they are (and they are currently in 10 different cities across India, US & Romania). With the right, mature teams - it helps productivity and focus. As a bootstrapped startup building in global markets it helps with costs big time. It allows us to prioritize outcomes over time spent. Of course remote work comes with its challenges - but for us they are far outweighed by the benefits. At SuperStuff, we’re free to do super work from places that inspire us, be close to our families, and operate in our own time zones. As we continue to build and grow, we're excited to see how remote work not only shapes our company culture but also contributes to a more inclusive, diverse, and sustainable future of work. Why building a “Portfolio Career” is the new hype: If I asked you who you are, what would your typical answer be? A marketer? A designer? A YouTuber? An entrepreneur? I believe you can be all of these—and more. Not surprised that over 50% of GenZ identify as Portfolio Careerists! – those adding fractional, full-time employment, consultancy, side hustles and/or their own businesses to their career portfolios, one at a time (or sometimes more – there are no rules!) The overall idea being you don’t have to follow a singular career path. In fact, diversify as much as you can, add multiple income streams, monetize more skills and do more of what you love. I've always seen people as brands, each with a unique voice and capabilities that go beyond job titles and work history. And just like brands diversify their product portfolios to expand their reach and revenue, I think talented people should be able to diversify their career portfolios for reaching their personal and financial goals. By no means am I saying that one should jump jobs or roles all the time, but definitely jump skills, experiment within your role and be good at multiple things - new careers demand that. While I never believed in traditional CVs, the next gen is thinking even bigger and better. They are designing their career on their own terms, building their personal-professional stories in their own way and celebrating their skill sets like no generation ever did before. This is exactly why we are building SuperStuff.
