STR is proud to have developed SourceHammer - a vulnerability detection and analysis tool for the DARPA Assured MicroPatching (AMP) program which was demonstrated at a recent hackathon. SourceHammer aligns binary with source code in real-time, leveraging probabilistic graph matching techniques. The tool provides ability to identify open-source dependencies in firmware binaries by matching against a corpus of source code. Cross-referencing the matched source code with public Cyber Vulnerability Enumeration (CVE) data enables faster vulnerability discovery by immediately locating candidate CVEs for further inspection. Integrations with industry standard tools, such as Binary Ninja, allow reverse engineers to leverage matched source code alongside their typical workflow.

At the recent 2024 SIAM Conference on Imaging Science (IS24), Joey Tatro presented a paper titled “Salient Conditional Diffusion for Defending Against Backdoor Attacks,” describing STR’s research in defending against backdoor attacks on neural networks. We utilize cutting edge diffusion models to remove adversarially inserted triggers in images. This prevents an adversary from exploiting neural network vulnerabilities to degrade performance.
