Our education team is excited to provide backpacks filled with gear that will allow local students to collect water quality data from the St. Johns River this school year! YOU can sponsor a backpack today and help provide students in our watershed with the tools for hands-on experiential learning about our St. Johns River. A $250 gift sponsors one backpack, but any amount will help us provide tools to local students! https://lnkd.in/eMpqipi9

We do our best to source our merch as sustainably as possible - this is a cool video from one of the companies we get our SJRK branded shirts from where they literally cycled through their entire production chain in a day here in the southeast USA! Planet-friendly production is bigger than just using recycled fabric. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/enCjDid4 St. Johns Riverkeeper merch is available on our site: https://lnkd.in/eY5M24eb

With looming infrastructure projects that threaten the St. Johns River Headwaters and the Indian River Lagoon, it is critical that we collaborate with our partners in this neighboring watershed. Lisa Rinaman, your St. Johns Riverkeeper, Jen Lomberk, the Matanzas Riverkeeper, and SJRK Headwaters Board Member Bill Zoby attended the 21st Indian River Lagoon Community Action Assembly in Melbourne this week.

The signs of saltwater intrusion are harrowingly visible along the banks of Goodbys Creek. This picture shows the "ghost tree" forest along the banks of this tributary of the St. Johns in Jacksonville. Saltwater is increasingly making its way upstream due to sea level rise, dredging and overuse of our aquifer - literally burning these trees that once thrived here.
