Today is #Glioblastoma Awareness Day. Today, nearly 40 Americans will receive a glioblastoma diagnosis, and 30 will die from this form of brain cancer. Glioblastoma is the most prevalent and lethal primary brain tumor with poor survival rates due to its highly invasive nature. There is no cure and standard of care has changed little over several decades. Despite these grim statistics, we are motivated and energized by the amazing research community dedicated to improving and extending the lives of glioblastoma patients and look forward to a future where this disease will be curable. #GBMDay #Glioblastoma #GBMAwareness

This week we completed the NIH SEED I-Corps program. Our team, which included CEO Steven Visuri, CBO Ryan Gordon, and scientist Nina Yuan, traveled to Bethesda, MD to report on our key insights generated from 124 interviews with stakeholders across the Alzheimer’s Disease ecosystem over the past 8 weeks. The evidence we gathered helped us better understand the patient, caregiver, and physician needs for Alzheimer’s Disease therapies, and were instrumental in refining and focusing our strategy for drug discovery and development targeting Alzheimer’s disease, leveraging our human neural organoid and neuroinflammation modeling platform. This program was intense and extremely rewarding, and we highly recommend any Phase I SBIR/STTR grant awardee to consider applying for a future I-Corps cohort. Special thank you to the I-Corps instructors - we learned a great deal from you and appreciated your candor, advice and support, which made this a tremendous experience. The Stem Pharm team gained two new employees this week! We’re excited to introduce Sophia Clark and Emily Blick! Sophia joins us as a Research Associate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she recently earned a BS in Genetics and Genomics. Sophia will apply her strong background in cell biology to support our neural organoid research projects. Emily joins us as a Research Scientist Intern for the summer to gain industry experience while she pursues her PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research in neuroinflammatory biomarkers and in vitro models of Traumatic Brain Injury is a great fit for us! Welcome to Stem Pharm, Sophia and Emily!

We're excited to share that we’ve been selected for StartUp Health’s Alzheimer’s Moonshot, a collaborative innovation community supported by Gates Ventures and Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF). We’ll be working closely with dozens of other founders and researchers who are passionate about preventing, managing and curing Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
