#GenerativeAI is top of mind amongst economists, technologists, policy makers and market makers. The discussions have been largely optimistic and effusive with expectations about transformational productivity, but are these expectations too optimistic? #AI https://lnkd.in/e4ZnJYEk

The word of the month is “bifurcation.” Financial condition indices are buoyant with US equities near their highs and credit spreads near record tight levels. At the same time, manufacturing sentiment remains depressed. The Dallas Fed Manufacturing Outlook posted a negative reading for 26 consecutive months which is just one month shy of global financial crisis (GFC) levels. Meanwhile the ISM index has been below 51 for 21 months. The Bloomberg survey pencils in a 49.2 reading which would make it 22 months, a longer streak than during the GFC. #STTInsights

In this episode of #STTStreetSignals, we talk through how past market movements and ongoing political realities shape the outlook for #gilts, #equities and $GBP. https://lnkd.in/etpsfRaW
