We also provide public services, including attorney referrals, public education, and reduced-fee legal assistance for low-income state residents. Our mission is to improve the administration of justice and the delivery of legal services and to promote the professional interests of Wisconsin lawyers. Lukas Steiner has been appointed to the Crawford County Circuit Court. The appointment fills a vacancy created by Judge Lynn M. Rider’s retirement. He will complete a term ending July 31, 2025. Steiner has served as the Crawford County District Attorney since January 2020. Prior to serving as district attorney, he primarily practiced criminal defense and family law and was an attorney at Kopp McKichan from 2011 to 2016 and McNamara, Reinicke, Vogelsberg & Helmke LLP from 2016 to 2020. Steiner grew up in Southwestern Wisconsin, is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Marquette University Law School, and lives in Prairie du Chien. Theresa Beck has been appointed to the Jefferson County Circuit Court – Branch 2. The appointment will fill the vacancy being created by Judge William F. Hue’s resignation. Beck will complete a term ending July 31, 2025. Beck has been an assistant district attorney in the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office since 2010. Prior to her work in the district attorney’s office, she was an attorney at the Law Offices of Monogue & Witt from 2000 to 2008 and a partner at Beck & Kiewit Law Offices from 2009 to 2010. Beck lives in Jefferson and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Marquette University Law School. She has previously served as the president of the Jefferson County Bar Association, as a member of the Jefferson County Human Services Citizen Review Panel, and was a member of the former Jefferson County Juvenile Drug Court. Douglas Hoffer has been appointed to the Eau Claire County Circuit Court – Branch 2. The appointment will fill the vacancy being created by Judge Michael A. Schumacher’s resignation. Hoffer will complete a term ending July 31, 2025. Hoffer is currently the deputy city attorney for Eau Claire, and he has worked in the Eau Claire City Attorney’s Office since 2013. He previously spent three years as an associate at the firm De La Mora & De La Mora in Elm Grove. Hoffer lives in Eau Claire with his family and is a graduate of Marquette University Law School. He is a recipient of the 2017 International Municipal Lawyers Association’s Brad D. Bailey Assistant City/County Attorney Award and the 2020 State Bar of Wisconsin’s Charles Dunn Author Award. In the community, he has served as president of the Chippewa Valley Museum Foundation Board of Directors and as a member of the Leadership Eau Claire Committee of the Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce.
