I got to work with Alexander Severin to record STAT Architecture PC’s homeownership project across from Soundview Park. It was my first time working with a professional photographer on a project, and wow, it makes a difference! More on STAT's account: https://lnkd.in/dS3KeR5U

STAT Architecture is designing an apartment building right off 50th Street with a design that builds on Sunnyside’s rich Art Deco heritage. We studied the architecture of Sunnyside, and the Bronx's Grand Concourse, and incorporated those color palettes and brick details into a stepped, modern massing. With our development team at Lemle & Wolff Companies & Elmcor Youth & Adult Activities, Inc., we will be creating beautiful and affordable housing. For those commuting on the 7 train, keep an eye out! The construction progress should be visible from the train

This morning was the groundbreaking for STAT's NYSERDA Building of Excellence winning Bushwick Alliance Project! Check out the full show on our Instagram: https://lnkd.in/eDfZ5-vU There are many people to thank for advancing this deeply affordable project. To name some... Scott Short, Drew Vanderburg, Alef Tadese and Emily Karpel Kurtz at RiseBoro Community Partnership. Michael Rochford, Philip Hofmann and Charlie Stewart at St. Nicks Alliance. But also many people at Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), Goldstein Hall PLLC, NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development, NYSERDA. Now we build! Congratulations (and Happy Birthday) to Taleen Josefsson & Carina Naula, STAT Architecture PC's project mangers on this project (who coincidentally share a birthday too)! 🎊

"The project was designed by STAT Architecture PC, based in New York City. According to HPD, the building will have about 90 apartments covering a range of income levels, from “extremely low-income” to those making about 80% of the area median income. What does it take to create truly healthier, affordable housing? It takes being mindful about material choices and using innovative design strategies. On Tuesday, October 10 we are co-hosting an interactive pop-up of healthy materials with mindful MATERIALS. Talk to some product manufacturers who believe in transparency - Columbia Forest Products, Duracryl Flooring Systems, Forbo Flooring Systems, Hempitecture, mafi - walk on art, Matter Surfaces, Patcraft, and ROCKWOOL Group - and smell and touch samples of flooring, tile, HempWool and more. Then ask questions of Taleen Josefsson, architect and passive house consultant about how she selects products for the design of healthier, public and affordable housing. She will be in conversation with Alison Mears and Jonsara Ruth from Healthy Materials Lab about the positive impacts and challenges of this pioneering work. We will also hear insights from: Rebecca Best from Material Bank Laurel Christensen from mindful Materials Thanks to our partners, mindful MATERIALS, Ecomedes and Material Bank®, for bringing the pop-up to Parsons School of Design - The New School Healthy Materials Lab. And thanks to the sponsors of mindful MATERIALS 2023 Pop-Up for helping to make this event possible, and for contributing to advancing healthier, low-carbon materials.
