We are thrilled to announce the dates for this Fall's Startup Challenge which are September 27th through 29th! The Startup Challenge is an amazing opportunity to learn about the #lifecycle of a #startup all in one weekend! Over the weekend you will have the experience of pitching an #idea, forming a #team, diving into #customer discovery, and engaging hands on with the #build #measure #learn loops of evidence or #traction building! It is a weekend-long experiential learning event: Friday night through Sunday night. Teams must be present for the bulk of the weekend. We begin by forming teams around brand-new ideas. - Anyone’s welcome to participate — even if you don’t have an idea. - Teams have just one weekend to turn the idea into a real business, and you’ll learn how by doing it. - We have all the resources you need to succeed. - No business knowledge or special skills required. Had a great time at the Startup Challenge weekend with the Carlsen Center at Sac State University! My team performed cycles of customer research regarding social media fatigue and the negative impact of unrealistic standards' on mental health. We developed "Unfiltered," a platform designed to gamify connections within college campuses, facilitating daily anonymous interactions among peers. This initiative encourages genuine self-expression, with the option to exchange contact information upon establishing a connection. Each day brings the potential for a new encounter across the campus. The success of this project was amplified by the collaborative efforts of our exceptional team, blending innovation with teamwork. This last weekend we hosted one of our Startup Challenge events a 54 hour immersive weekend of learning about startups by doing them! I am so grateful for the organizing team, Arlene J. Miranda, Josh David Miller, and Laura Good, for the support and #teamwork in bringing this together! I am always energized after seeing the hardwork, dedication, and commitment to stepping out of your comfort zone that all of our #entrepreneurs over the weekend showed! They all "got out of the building" and did the hard work of talking to customers and facing their feedback. It was amazing to see the pivots and perseverance all of the teams showed! Today I was honored to win 1st place in the Startup Challenge Traction Cohort at Carlsen Center. It's been a busy couple of days, and I couldn't imagine a better way to celebrate the progress Purpurātus has made. I'm grateful for the connections I made, but none of it would've been possible without Laura, Cameron, Josh, and the rest of the Carlsen Center staff. Thanks for hosting such an awesome event, and congratulations to all of the participants, we all did incredible work!
