From Rachel Kleinfeld, an expert on preventing political violence:"What we really need to happen in America has just happened in France and in Poland and even in Brazil — where Bolsonaro faced an assassination attempt — is for that broad swath of center left to center right to stand up and say, 'We want a different kind of politician, and we want a different kind of political society.'" https://lnkd.in/eiMcafr6

Zachary Elwood contributes to the Builders newsletter. He and Vanessa Otero, founder of Ad Fontes Media, are talking tomorrow about toxic polarization at 7pm Eastern. Registration link in Vanessa's post.
I'm hosting a free webinar next week: Taking on Toxic Polarization with author Zachary Elwood. I’m very passionate about depolarization work. The very reason I founded this company was because I wanted polarized people to reduce their contempt for each other and find better and more effective ways to advocate for their viewpoints. That’s why I am such a big fan of Zachary Elwood’s writing on this very subject and why I am so excited to be discussing his books, Defusing American Anger, aimed at Americans of all political viewpoints, and his newest one, How Contempt Destroys Democracy, specifically aimed at Americans with liberal (i.e., generally left, Democratic) viewpoints. Note that while How Contempt Destroys Democracy is directed at a liberal audience, conservative (i.e., generally right, Republican) audiences tend to value and enjoy it given that it argues why liberals should not dehumanize, insult, and generalize conservatives. As always, I hope folks from all political viewpoints find this conversation useful and enlightening. This webinar is free, and you just need to register to attend! Will be recorded for later viewing. Wednesday, July 17, 4:00 pm PDT/ 7:00 pm EDT https://lnkd.in/g_Tcp24H

Alright, alright, alright!
“It’s harder to sell belief and hope than fear … our leadership doesn’t need to look like an episode of “The Real Housewives.” Thank you, Matthew McConaughey, for your support of Disagree Better and your work to bridge divides and support depolarization in America.
