We are excited to announce that this past week we obtained approval of the GMP for construction of Los Angeles Metro's G Line project. This Progressive Design-Build team, which also includes Flatiron Construction and Modern Railway Systems, has diligently worked through preconstruction efforts to reach this milestone. The current route, which opened in 2005, has the highest number of active riders in the San Fernando Valley. Operations will continue during construction as we create a more streamlined service for passengers. It will also connect residents with the East San Fernando Valley Light Rail project that is scheduled to break ground soon. This project will increase the travel-time savings by 39% with railroad-style four-quadrant gates at 13 intersections with improved traffic signal priority at all the other intersections. Additionally, three grade separated bridges will also be installed including an aerial station.

For ESOP month, we're celebrating employee ownership with others across the country. We're fiercely proud of being employee owned, and believe it not only benefits us, but is a major factor in helping our projects be successful. Having a true stake in the game means you're willing to go above and beyond to get the job done, and get it done right. Putting a project first mentality in everything you do, and doing everything you can to be a true partner. Congratulations to all the successful employee owners out there, showing a truly equitable model of business is successful.

Dan Elshire, our Northern California regional manager, and Octavio Bailon-Schubert, construction manager in Seattle, had the opportunity to present at a Global Mass Transit State of Good Repair conference. Here, they spoke to the unique capabilities of On-Call contracts to help transit agencies continue running smoothly, identifying 6 key tasks for a successful working relationship: 1. Review asset management plan 2. Prioritize tasks for the year 3. Jointly perform scoping 4. Develop task-order pricing 5. Collaborative pre-construction planning and permitting 6. Execute! We've learned these best practices through our incredible partnerships across the country, with agencies such as DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit), Sound Transit, and Utah Transit Authority. Thank you to all that attended, Jane Huang from Jacobs for moderating, and David Mulenga for sharing insights on VTA's asset strategies. We can't wait to continue further collaboration across the country.

We're committed to always improving ourselves and the industry, so we're thrilled to be attending one of the world's largest transit events at the InnoTrans Trade Fair in Berlin. Much of our preconstruction on the Brightline West project has focused on the integration of EN standards with federal requirements and regulations in the United States to bring high-speed rail stateside. This event will allow us to further examine and discuss the overlap of current global high-speed rail standards with American practices, while simultaneously interfacing with the latest high-speed rail technologies from around the globe. We look forward to connecting with our industry partners at this premier event. Learn more about our high-speed rail efforts here: https://swhhsr.com/

On Friday, we celebrated our preconstruction work and partnership with Skanska, AECOM, and Los Angeles Metro as the Full Funding Grant Agreement (FFGA) for the East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Project was officially signed. This is the first transit project in the country to receive funding through the FTA’s Expedited Project Delivery (EPD) Pilot Program, which accelerates transit infrastructure delivery by leveraging public-private partnerships to streamline the delivery process through innovation. Qualified projects also must meet criteria for mobility improvements, environmental benefits, congestion relief, and economic development, as well as meet ridership projections using the STOPS model. To get here, the team has been working nonstop on base design validation, budgeting, scheduling, and value engineering services. Final design has begun, and utility relocations are scheduled to start soon. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gVSPngRr

Last Friday was a great day to be in Seattle, with the grand opening of Sound Transit’s northernmost extension: Lynnwood Link. The on-time opening shows what rolling up the sleeves can accomplish, as the team overcame a concrete strike, wildfires in the region, a tight corridor, and a global pandemic. A huge congratulations and thank you to Sound Transit, Kiewit, Hoffman Construction Company, and all the others working tirelessly alongside us to get the job done. The MAX Red Line Improvements Project is officially open! As the prime CM/GC contractor, we're proud of our contribution in delivering on TriMet vision for "A Better Red." Over the past 45 months, our team has worked safely to construct walls, bridges, a multi-use path, major utilities, and upgraded transit stations across TriMet's corridor. Our team collaborated with TriMet's operations team to phase construction so that our work did not impact passenger service, except for the eight time-sensitive shutdowns for critical work which were all delivered on time. All said, the team put in more than 320,000 workerhours without a single recordable incident. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gtteJQhB
