#TeamSPB has acted as counsel to the underwriters and lenders of the Dominican Republic’s main airport concessionaire, Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (Aerodom), in a $940 million financial transaction, one of the largest financings in the history of the country. The funds will be used by Aerodom to comply with its obligations under the Renewed and Reformed Concession Contract entered in December 2023, which extended the concession of Aerodom to operate six airports in the Dominican Republic until 2060, including the payment of $775 million concession fee to the Dominican State and the constructing of a new terminal at Santo Domingo’s Las Américas International Airport, among other. We are proud to share that #TeamSPB has advised the World Wildlife Fund pro bono on its statement to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the advisory opinion proceedings on the Obligation of States in Respect of Climate Change. The statement sets out WWF’s position on State’s obligations with respect to protecting biodiversity from the impacts of climate change, explaining the need for the Court to address these obligations, given the threat posed to biodiversity by climate change, as well as the threat to present and future generations if biodiversity is depleted. The statement also highlights the significant role that certain species and ecosystems play in mitigating the effects of climate change.
