Whether in analog (paper) or digital (app or notepad) format, taking notes is an important aid in memorizing and learning a new language. That’s because writing helps retain information more effectively, strengthening your memory and speeding up your learning. 📝✨ Try incorporating writing into your studies! Still not convinced? Check out some of the benefits of this practice: Deeper processing: When we write, we actively engage our brains in various tasks, such as thinking about word meanings, spelling, grammar, and sentence structure. This deeper processing helps strengthen neural connections related to the information we're trying to retain. Motor involvement: The physical act of writing involves different parts of the brain than simply reading or listening. Using handwriting, especially, has been associated with better information retention because it requires fine motor coordination and sensory activation. Visual feedback: When writing, we create a visual record of the information. This can facilitate later retrieval of the content as we can visualize what we wrote and recognize patterns or keywords. Active practice: Writing is a form of active practice, where we're actively building our knowledge. This type of active involvement is more effective for retention than more passive methods like just listening or reading. Personalization: When we write, we often organize the content according to our own understanding and perspective. This can make the information more meaningful and relevant to us, also making it easier to remember. In summary, writing involves various parts of the brain, provides visual feedback, is a form of active practice, and allows for the personalization of data, all of which contributes to a more effective retention of information. #LanguageLearning #Memorization #EffectiveWriting #SpeakyApp

Established by the United Nations (UN) in 1975, the International Womens Day celebrates the political and social achievements of women worldwide. But, are you familiar with how this occasion is celebrated in various countries? In China, some companies grant their female employees a half-day off on March 8th. In Russia, it is acknowledged as a national holiday, with sales in flower shops seeing a significant surge. Meanwhile, in the United States and Brazil, the day is marked by extensive marches and gatherings that highlight the historical significance of the day and reinforce the ongoing feminist struggle for rights. Were you aware of these interesting customs? #InternationalWomensDay #Speaky

Everyone is afraid of making mistakes, but it's by making mistakes that we learn. Literally! When you make a mistake, you can figure out where you need to improve. Is it in the pronunciation of a word? In the grammar rules? You can record yourself to listen to how you have been speaking and observe your evolution, or listen carefully to natives speaking in movies or series to figure out that difficult word. And if it's a grammatical error, reinforcing the rules and practicing them in writing and speaking is the best way to learn. Either way, you can make mistakes while talking to someone. It's more fun, without that pressure for perfection, and you'll still have the support of a native speaker of the language. Want to know how?
