Spaceport America (https://www.spaceportamerica.com) is the first purpose-built commercial spaceport in the world. The FAA-licensed launch complex, situated on 18,000 acres adjacent to the U.S. Army White Sands Missile Range in southern New Mexico, has a rocket friendly environment of 6,000 square miles of restricted airspace, low population density, a 12,000-foot by 200-foot runway, vertical launch complexes, and about 340 days of sunshine and low humidity. Some of the most respected companies in the commercial space industry are tenants at Spaceport America: Virgin Galactic, HAPSMobile/ AeroVironment, UP Aerospace, and SpinLaunch. Other customers include Boeing, EXOS Aerospace and C6 Launch Systems.

A big day for New Mexico yesterday, with Rocket Lab celebrating the preliminary signing of CHIPS Act funding for increased manufacturing of space-grade solar cells. I was able to attend, and meet and hear great comments from Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich, U.S. Senator Ben Ray Lujan, U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury, Rocket Lab CFO Adam Spice, Rocket Lab VP Operations Jerry Winton, U.S. Deputy Scretary of Commerce Don Graves, Albuquerque City Councilor Renee Grout, Rocket Lab VP & General Manager Brad Clevenger, and Rocket Lab VP Business Development Navid Fatemi. This also builds NewSpace Nexus and the whole Space Valley Coalition in NM. This is exciting, and I was glad to be there. https://lnkd.in/g_Pcc9aY

🫡 ✈️ Special day out at the site today as we hosted a group from the United States Air Force Logistics Officers Association 🚀 The airmen and women flew in, toured alongside Spaceport and Virgin Galactic personnel, then took a quick 45-minute flight back to Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque ✨

More rocket launches, more fun 🚀 This week we hosted the Colonel Alvin Drew Space Camp for four more rocket launches as well as interns from the Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s office ✨ Members of the Air Force Research Laboratory were on site, too, in order to check out the site and explore its operational capabilities 🫡
