  • Meet Linda Doyle, a health unit coordinator in the Emergency Department since August 1985. Linda’s role involves managing a variety of tasks, from answering phones and performing computer work to handling the non-clinical aspects of traumas, strokes, and STEMIs. Her versatility and willingness to assist wherever needed, including transporting patients, highlight her commitment to supporting the team and ensuring smooth operations within the department. Linda’s connection to Southern NH Medical Center (SNHMC) runs deep. Born at this very hospital, she later volunteered as a candy striper and has seen all four of her children born here as well. Over the years, she has built strong relationships with patients and their families, aiming to make their experience as comfortable as possible. The sense of community and the lasting friendships with her co-workers and patients are what keep her dedicated to SNHMC. Outside of work, Linda enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and traveling, enriching her life with new experiences and cherished moments. Thank you, Linda, for being a foundational part of our community. Your dedication and compassion have made a lasting impact on countless lives, and we are grateful for you.

  • My name is Dr. Robert Catania. I am a bariatric surgeon with Southern NH Weight Management. Bariatric surgeons work to address the complex and often life-altering disease of obesity. We are experts in performing surgical procedures aimed at facilitating weight loss and improving the overall health and quality of life for individuals struggling with severe obesity. Beyond just surgical skills, we understand the physiological and psychological factors underlying obesity, allowing us to tailor treatment plans to each patient's unique needs. We know that surgical interventions can lead to significant weight loss, resolution of obesity-related conditions like diabetes and hypertension, and, ultimately, a renewed sense of vitality and well-being for our patients. Our role extends far beyond the operating room; we serve as educators, advocates, and partners in their patients' journey toward sustainable weight management and improved health. It is our goal to create a pathway to a healthier future for every patient. I became a bariatric surgeon by accident. While enrolled in a minimally invasive surgery fellowship to learn advanced laparoscopic surgical skills, part of my training included bariatric surgery. Although bariatric surgical procedures had been performed with open surgery for many years by then, the introduction of minimally invasive surgery for weight loss was still relatively new. The dramatic improvement in the health and well-being that bariatric surgical patients were experiencing was remarkable, and I became very interested in the disease of obesity. The more I learned, the more I wanted to know. As I spent more of my professional life caring for patients with obesity, I decided I wanted to help create a center that provided comprehensive care for my patients. By partnering with Foundation Medical Associates and Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, we were able to bring together a great group of medical professionals who shared the same passion for obesity care. Now, I get to go to work every day to help patients with obesity and to work with others who share my enthusiasm about the care we provide.

  • Hello. My name is Kimberly Garand. I am the lead sonographer at Southern NH Medical Center. A sonographer specializes in using ultrasound technology (high-frequency sound wave equipment) to create pictures of the body's internal structures, including organs, tissues, and blood flow. This is important for diagnosing and monitoring various medical conditions. We can work in a range of medical settings, from obstetrics and gynecology to cardiology and oncology. Sonographers must have a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathology to capture and interpret these images accurately. We work closely with physicians to provide the necessary information for diagnosis and treatment planning, ensuring patient care is both effective and efficient. We often interact directly with patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and providing reassurance, thus contributing to the overall patient experience and care. I became a sonographer because I am passionate about helping others and value patient care. I love it because I can directly assist the radiologist in providing a diagnosis while also ensuring patients feel at ease during their visit. This career path has been extremely rewarding; I am grateful to be able to work with such a great team!
