Composting is an ever-growing part of the sustainability conversation, and Southern Champion Tray is proud to have Jeff Basey and others taking an active role professionally and personally! Let's continue to move forward with creating sustainable packaging for the future!
Some things happened in the past week that all overlapped in my life on a work and personal front that I thought would be fun to share. This past weekend I got to turn my compost that had some awesome coffee grinds from Goodman Coffee Roasters. While turning it I ran into some plastic that had made it into my compost. Which is unfortunately my own doing but it made me reflect on the larger compost system and two things I'm getting to be a small part of. 1) The Improving the Circularity of Compostables and Compost conference happening in September during the week of the 23rd to make composting even better. Reach out if you're interested in attending or helping to fund that project! 2) Southern Champion Tray for marking their trays with third party certifications (Compost Manufacturing Alliance LLC) to make it easier for composters and customers to know what is compostable. Shoutout to Michael Ryan @ NewTerra Compost for offering his first hand experience to help influence the change. I know none of these are going to solve all the problems but they are small steps and I'm excited to keep pressing on!

Our Chattanooga Team had an excellent Family Day at the Chattanooga Football Club! From beginning to end, fun was had at every age. Thank you to all of the people that worked so hard to make it special and to a few stars of the night, Jemell Smith, who expertly sang the national anthem, and Virgil Norman, who is celebrating 46 years at SCT and graciously performed the coin toss to start the game. What a night!
