We’ve been getting a lot of questions about the new Medicare Part D rules, and we’re here to help clarify what it means for you, your employees, and your health plans. Here's what employers need to keep in mind: • Annual Disclosure: Employers must disclose if their prescription drug coverage is “creditable” to both CMS and Medicare-eligible individuals. • Employee Notifications: If your health plan covers Medicare-eligible individuals, you must notify each Part D eligible person them whether your coverage qualifies as creditable under Part D rules. • Coordination of Benefits: Expect employees to ask about how their plans work with Medicare Part D. Part D plans are required to coordinate benefits with other health plans. • Penalties for Late Enrollment: If coverage isn’t creditable, employees could face penalties for enrolling in Part D later.
