This interesting article reports on a sophisticated cyber espionage attributed to a China-linked group named Velvet Ant, who has been targeting an organization in East Asia for the past three years. Using compromised F5 BIG-IP appliances as internal command-and-control servers, the attackers employed advanced techniques like PlugX RAT and DLL side-loading to exfiltrate sensitive information, posing significant challenges for cybersecurity defenses. How often should you change your password? The answer will vary based on the level of security, type of platform, and company. In general, though, regardless of the requirements, you should be prepared to change your passwords every few months. There may even be situations where you should change your password immediately, especially if a cybercriminal has access to your account. A few ways to know if your account has been compromised include the following: ✅ Unusual Account Activity: Look out for unfamiliar emails sent from company accounts, unauthorized access to sensitive data, or unexplained password changes and account lockouts. ✅ Slow or Unresponsive Systems: Monitor for performance issues without clear causes, spikes in network traffic or resource usage, and frequent crashes or freezing. ✅ Suspicious Software Activity: Be vigilant for unexpected pop-ups, warning messages, or unauthorized installation/removal of software. ✅ Unauthorized Financial Transactions: Watch for unexpected charges, fund transfers, alterations to financial records, or fraudulent invoices/payment requests. ✅ Altered Website Content: Check for unexpected changes in appearance or content on your website. Also, ensure awareness of all website admin accounts and their permissions.

In an ideal world, cybersecurity measures would prevent all attacks, but preventing attacks can be challenging due to cyber criminals constantly changing their strategy.
