Using nature as a source of material innovation and performance.

About us

We turn nature into high performing and exciting materials. Our first innovation, Searamic, is an-house material innovation that can turn any leather or fabric into a high performing one that resists color fading, block UV and fire, or make the handfeel silky smooth. Searamic was designed from the fusion of polymers found in algae and skin safe ceramics to ensure we can help brands introduce products that are better for the planet without sacrificing on long-term durability.

The team at Soarce has been restlessly chugging away at building the next green materials platform based on solving problems for people and the planet. 1.) Successful Industrial Scale Trials: We have successfully trialed our dyeing chemistries with NC State, one of the largest textile universities in the US. 2.) $275,000 Grant from NSF: The National Science Foundation has awarded us a $275,000 grant, validating our technology for use in novel fibers. 3.) Customer Testimonials and Market Entry: We have increased our production output to serve customers in the paints, textile treatments, and leather top coat markets and will be used for an upcoming brand’s product launch. We are now working with over 25 small to large-scale companies, demonstrating our growing market traction. Last but not least, we have officially kicked off our seed round of to open up a pilot facility to produce high performing and low impact materials!

Exciting day at Soarce shipping our heavy-metal free dye materials 🧪 🌱. Our dye additives are going out to artisan dye studios to help them reduce water by 70% during dyeing, remove an entire step during the process, and impart light resisting properties!

COO At Soarce | Turning Seaweed into Performance Textiles

Happy to share the team at Soarce recently finished the Boost VC deep tech accelerator and that they led our $1.45M pre-seed round last year. Derek Saltzman Patrick Michel Matthew Jaeger When we first met Adam Draper, he recounted what he learned from his many breakfasts with his grandfather William Henry Draper who created the first venture capital firm in the US. Not only did we receive a fundamental understanding of venture capital, but were challenged in every meeting to think about how our model compares to those created during the early days of oil. This has transformed how we think about our business from being the “seaweed leather company” to “turning seaweed into high performing chemistries to replace the 10s of millions of toxic chemistries globally”. Being in this program has not only brought us into one of the strongest networks in VC, but taught us one of the most important things about running a startup: Be the cockaroach. Stay alive long enough to truly understand the formula needed to change the world. Big thanks to everyone from the boost team who believed in us in the early days. This international women’s day we celebrate a key team member and now historical figure in the scientific community. Being known as one of the key scientist to ever continuously spin nanocellulose fiber, her work ignited the passion our team had to turn #natureintonano. Nanocellulose is a material found in all plants that exceeds the tensile strength of steel but is one of most renewable materials on the planet. Her work inspired our team to create exciting products that meet at the intersection of sustainability everyday. #internationalwomensday #womeninstem

Our team has been pretty low key in 2023; selectively giving insight in what it looks like to to create completely new and clean chemistries from plants but 2024 will be one for the books. We’ve been keeping some pretty big news to ourselves but we’ll be rolling it all out in the next month and we’re excited about it. First off, our team will be at the Biofabricate summit this year in Paris revealing what we’ve been working on when it comes to using algae to create new nanomaterials for the fashion industry. We’re excited to publicly show some new products we’ve been working on along with our philosophy as a company moving forward. If you’ll be in the area, let’s book a meeting! Soarce
