Snow Leopard Trust aims to protect the endangered snow leopard in partnership with communities that share its habitat.
About us
Founded in 1981, the Snow Leopard Trust is the world's leading authority on the study and protection of the endangered snow leopard. At the Snow Leopard Trust we use a diverse combination of programs to ensure the survival of the endangered snow leopard. We place our focus on partnering with communities in key snow leopard habitat areas, addressing their needs as well as the needs of the cats. By using the latest science to develop groundbreaking research techniques, we can best understand the wildlife-human conflict and identify potential resources for protecting this incredible big cat. Our staff work in India, Pakistan, China, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia with a fundraising base in Seattle, Washington.

Helping to lead the charge in global snow leopard conservation, #NatGeoExplorer Charudutt Mishra is Executive Director of the Snow Leopard Trust—the largest and oldest organization dedicated to promoting ecosystem and wildlife conservation across the high mountains of South and Central Asia. In this role, Mishra played a key part in passing the Bishkek Declaration on October 23, 2013, when all 12 countries that fall in the snow leopards' habitat range pledged to ensure that these big cats and the people who live among them thrive in healthy ecosystems that contribute to the prosperity and well-being of their countries and the planet. By working closely with photographer and fellow Explorer Prasenjeet Yadav, Mishra is seeking to understand how snow leopards and the people co-existing with them will be affected by the extremes and trends of climate change and why it is that snow leopards are localized to the high mountain landscapes in Asia.
