SMS group USA's Washington Service Center recently completed two more rebuilds of HAGCs for a hot strip mill customer. These rebuilds incorporated a newly redesigned tailrod gland and improved sealing arrangement.   This rebuild is part of an ongoing program to install updated components in all of the customer's cylinders in the near future. This past month, our North America Supply Chain team came together for an impactful annual SC Conference at our Pittsburgh headquarters. With 43 dedicated associates representing Project Procurement, Mexico Sourcing and Supplier Development, Technical Service Purchasing, Logistics & Customs Clearance, Quality Assurance, Central/Local Workshop Purchasing, and Digitization from 15 SMS locations, we truly showcased the strength of our team! Our agenda was robust and focused, covering our SMS group USA core values, supply chain mission, and essential compliance training. We also enjoyed an engaging team building event that fostered collaboration and camaraderie. Day 2 featured an external trainer who delivered valuable insights on Lean methodologies, continuous improvement, and change management techniques. Each functional area presented their progress and outlined a strategic roadmap for their activities, while our break out sessions received outstanding feedback. 📣 Hydraulic Upgrade Package for Sutton 45KTC Straightener 📣 SMS group USA is excited to announce the latest hydraulic upgrade package for the Sutton 45KTC Straightener installed this past month at the customer site and designed to elevate performance and efficiency. This modernization includes a state-of-the-art hydraulic valve stand, accumulator stand, and six new clamping units, all engineered to optimize hydraulic force and enhance clamping/unclamping speed for the machine's middle stem. Developed in-house by SMS group USA, this upgrade reflects our deep expertise in Sutton machines and was tailored in close collaboration with the customer to meet their stringent production requirements. #hydraulicupgrade #customization #modernization #steel

Yesterday, SMS group Washington celebrated the retirement of JR Colbert after an impressive 48 year career with SMS group USA! By all accounts, JR has been an absolute pillar to this team and, while he'll be missed, we couldn't be happier to congratulate him on a well deserved retirement. This year, the SMS group USA Social Committee decided to try something new and started our first ever Summer Sports League! Our kickball and pickleball leagues had a blast getting together outside of the office for some friendly competition. We were even joined by a few local kiddos who asked to play for our kickball games a time or two! Thanks to everyone who participated and made it so fun...especially those who patiently taught many of us how to play pickleball (Jack Fantoni🏅).
