SHERWOOD PARTICIPATES AT SMPS MARKET MIXER IN PORTLAND LAST NIGHT Eric Rutledge, our Community Development Director, and I were very pleased to be active participants at last night’s SMPS—Society for Marketing Professional Services Market Mixer which took place yesterday evening at the Avenue Portland venue near the Oregon Convention Center on Portland’s Eastside. https://www.smps.org/ We were very pleased and excited to have been invited by Alexi Meuwissen who is the Director of Marketing for Scott Edwards Architecture to this very well attended major annual business development event. This was a fabulous opportunity to meet with numerous architects, engineers, developers, and contractors and other creative industry professionals who are designing and constructing our future built environment. The attendees were very interested in learning more about the City of Sherwood’s plans for the future.  Sherwood conducted two roundtables where we had the opportunity to talk about economic developments that are taking place in our community, including our new industrial parks in the Tonquin Employment Area, south of SW Tualatin-Sherwood Road and west of SW 124th. As you may know, Trammell Crow Company, Schnitzer Properties, and Panattoni have all been working with the City to build out over 2 million square feet of new multi-tenant spec industrial space for companies large and small. There is room for your company to join the Sherwood family of businesses in the Tonquin Employment Area. We also discussed the work that the City will be starting this summer on to prepare the Sherwood Old Town Plan which will create opportunities for new business investment in our traditional town center – creating opportunities for unique retail, eating and drinking establishment and other boutique developments to become a part of Old Town. We also had the opportunity brief attendees on our plans for the development of Sherwood West as a carefully planned, new expansion area with new employment centers, a Wine Country gateway development, and a mix of housing – all nestled with new greenways, parks and trails.
