On World Refugee Day, we shine a spotlight on more than 108 million people worldwide who have been forced to flee their homes because of conflict, poverty, disaster, and violence. Losing a home has ripple effects beyond the physical building: It can fracture a family and disrupt people’s economic and emotional well-being. When uprooted, people are often separated from their loved ones and support networks, have limited access to food, water, health and social services, education, and livelihoods. Safe homes are the first step for uprooted families to rebuild their lives. Our two-part approach is designed to have a transformational impact where it’s most needed: Expanding the reach of our programming, and bringing about systemic change through partnerships with key stakeholders to adopt safe and dignified approaches.
